PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk sparked outrage online after advising young people at a right-wing conference to "get married as young as possible and have as many kids as possible."

During his keynote speech at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest conference in Arizona on Saturday, December 16, Kirk claimed that young people should "reject the siren song of modernity" and prioritize early marriage and having children over pursuing careers.

He went on to warn of an impending "population collapse" and downplayed the importance of young people getting jobs. Kirk also referenced receiving emails from middle-aged women who regretted focusing on their careers instead of starting families when they were younger.

Charlie Kirk faces widespread criticism on the Internet

Kirk's controversial remarks regarding the need to marry early and have as many children as possible were swiftly met with widespread criticism and mockery on social media platforms.

One said, "You’re not old enough to give this advice tbh."

Some critiques delved into the financial implications, with a user bluntly asserting, "That is a road straight to poverty in this country," and another cynically remarking, "Good plan to be broke and on welfare. The new 'conservative' way."

A person, summarizing the prevailing sentiment, declared, "This is terrible advice," with someone else adding, "Guys, please keep in mind, Chuck does not have any children."

Charlie Kirk is not alone in propagating warnings of alleged 'population collapse'

While many rejected Kirk's message as impractical and irresponsible, he is not alone among prominent voices warning of declining birth rates.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, for instance, recently told a gathering of Giorgia Meloni’s far-right Brothers of Italy party that having more children is the only solution to falling populations that threaten economic growth in countries like Italy and Japan, according to EuroNews.

"My advice to all government leaders and people is: make sure you have children to create a new generation," declared Musk at the event in Rome. He appeared holding one of his 11 children to emphasize the need for larger families.

Like Kirk, Musk warned that without higher birth rates among native Italians and other developed nations, the cultures of those countries faced extinction and cautioned, "We are in danger of no longer having these countries."

Meloni’s new Italian government has also made raising Italy’s birth rate a top priority. The recently passed 2024 budget contains new financial incentives for families to have more children.
