WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump visited Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's headquarters on Thursday, July 24, after criticizing him everywhere - on social media and in front of reporters.

The POTUS called out Powell regarding the renovation costs of the Fed's headquarters, after which the banker fact-checked him on live TV. The hilarious moment occured when Trump took out a piece of paper claiming the cost of the Federal Reserve’s renovation project had surged to $3.1 billion, compared with the Fed's official figure of $2.5 billion.

"It's about $3.1 billion now — it went up a little bit, or maybe a lot. It was $2.7 billion, and now it's $3.1," Trump said. "I'm not aware of that," Powell replied. "It just came out," Trump responded. "I haven’t heard that from anyone at the Fed," Powell added.

Powell then grabbed the piece of paper to read it.

"Are you including the Martin renovation? You just added in a third building," Powell pointed out. Trump replied, "It’s a building that’s being built." Then Powell clarified, "It was built five years ago. We finished Martin five years ago."

The awkward moment between Trump and Powell led to several hilarious memes across social media.
