A$AP Rocky says teasing Rihanna’s new music led to ‘hell’ at home: ‘I’m gonna mind my business’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A$AP Rocky has revealed that he will no longer share updates about Rihanna’s music career after facing the consequences of announcing that the singer had returned to the studio.
The rapper joked that the reaction at home was like “hell” after he discussed her musical activities earlier this year. Speaking at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala, Rocky made it clear that he intends to keep further details about Rihanna’s upcoming music to himself.
A$AP Rocky refuses to share Rihanna album updates
At the 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17, the 38-year-old rapper spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the reaction to his earlier comments regarding Rihanna’s music.
Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, joked about the consequences of revealing that the singer had been working on new material.
“It was hell,” he said, referring to the day after he shared the update. After laughing, Rocky added, “Yeah, I shouldn’t have done that.”
When asked whether he wanted to clarify anything about Rihanna’s musical plans, the rapper made it clear that he would not discuss the subject further. “No, I’m gonna mind my business,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Rocky first revealed that Rihanna was back in the studio during an appearance on 'The Jason Lee Show,' which was posted on August 5.
The announcement attracted considerable media attention, offering fans one of the most concrete updates about the singer’s music in years.
During the interview, Rocky pushed back against the idea that his relationship with Rihanna, their family life or her numerous business ventures were responsible for delaying her next album.
“Nah. She in the studio right now. Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe,” he said. He continued, “Bro, she working. She cooking, no funny,” before joking, “Damn, I’mma get in trouble for this.”
Rocky and Rihanna share three children. His comments encouraged fans to believe that the long wait for the singer’s next album might finally be nearing its end.

Rihanna’s last album was released in 2016
Rihanna’s return to the studio has drawn attention because her last full-length studio album, 'ANTI,' was released in 2016.
The record marked a major turning point in her career, spending two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and producing enduring hits, including 'Work,' 'Needed Me' and 'Love on the Brain.'
Since the album’s release, fans have continued to wonder when, or whether, the singer would deliver a follow-up record. Although Rihanna has yet to announce a new full-length album, she has offered glimpses of her musical work through soundtrack releases.

Her most recent release came in 2025 with 'Friend of Mine,' a song featured on The Smurfs soundtrack. Before that, she returned with 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' in 2022. The song earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
While Rocky’s August comments briefly fuelled hopes for more concrete news about Rihanna’s next album, his latest remarks suggest that he will not provide further updates about her musical activities.
For now, the singer has yet to officially announce a new album or confirm a release date for her next full-length project.
