Rihanna claps back at EJ Johnson’s Paris Fashion Week shade with one-word response
PARIS, FRANCE: Rihanna has responded to EJ Johnson after the TV star shaded the singer for being an hour late to the Dior show during Paris Fashion Week on September 29. Johnson later detailed the delay in an Instagram video, saying they did not care to wait for Rihanna.
A day later, Rihanna appeared to react after a video showed Johnson being blocked from entering their Paris hotel. The singer responded to the clip with a one-word comment, “Damn.”
EJ Johnson called out Rihanna over Dior show delay
Earlier this week, the ‘Rich Kids of Beverly Hills’ alum, who uses they/them pronouns, took to Instagram to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at them getting ready to attend Dior’s show. After the event, Johnson gave followers a rundown of what happened, including Rihanna’s tardiness.
“It did start an hour late because Rihanna was late and you know … we didn’t care to wait for her but the show was beautiful nonetheless,” Johnson said in the clip.
Harper’s Bazaar reported that Rihanna was an hour late to the show, which caused the runway to be delayed. The day before, Rihanna had attended the Matieres Fecales Spring 2027 show.
A day after Johnson’s comments, a video surfaced showing the TV personality being blocked from entering their Paris hotel after they posed for a swarm of paparazzi. Rihanna appeared to react to the clip by commenting, “Damn.”
EJ Johnson previously shaded Rihanna’s fashion choices
After the discourse surrounding the Dior show made headlines, several videos surfaced online showing Johnson throwing shade at Rihanna. Following the Met Gala 2026 in May, Johnson claimed that “big names” including Beyonce, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian “fell short” with their looks.
“It’s a very hard day — especially for me to say that about Rihanna because she’s been going through a lot but like let’s go back to Guo Pei and the yellow cape that was cascading down the stairs all those years ago,” Johnson said in an Instagram video, referring to Rihanna’s Met Gala 2015 look.
“I mean, it was bomb,” the nepo baby added.
In another viral clip, Johnson showed off a Bottega calf-skin cape they had purchased.
“I think this is the one that Rihanna wore after the show,” the ‘Proud Family: Louder and Prouder’ voice actor said.
“I think she wore the sample that came down the runway but I was actually the only person that bought it off the runway,” Johnson added.
