NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share a clip from the Democratic fundraiser in New York, on Friday, March 29.

The event took place on the night of Thursday, March 28, at Radio Music Hall, where former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton joined hands with A-list celebrities like Lizzo and Stephen Colbert to collect more than $26 million for the reelection campaign of the incumbent, according to AP News.

President Joe Biden's tweet

The clip posted by Biden on X through his personal account shows him being interviewed on stage by talk show host Stephen Colbert, who asks, "Here we are in 2024, and this election really feels like the most important election of our lives, when it comes to rights and freedoms and the heart and the soul and the future of our country. First question for you, President Biden: How would you describe what's at stake in this election?"

"I think our democracy is at stake. Not a joke," responds Biden. "I think democracy is literally at stake. Look, I wasn't going to run in 2020 because I just lost my son Beau, a little earlier."

"And until I watched what happened down in Virginia, when those folks came out of thee fields, carrying torches and Nazi flags, and accompanied by white supremacists, and a young woman was killed, a bystander. And when the former president was asked, what he thought of that, he said, 'There are very fine people on both sides'."

"We're at a real inflection point in history," he continued. "Things are changing. This guy denies there is global warming. This guy wants to get rid of not only Roe v Wade, he wants to get rid of the ability of anyone anywhere in America to ever choose. I mean all the things he's doing are so old."

Biden also made fun of the most prominent criticism against himself, to much delight of the audience, saying, "Speaking of old. And you know. a little old and out of shape. But anyway."

Accompanying the clip, Biden wrote in his post, "We’re at a real inflection point in history. Trump’s ideas are old. I’m fighting to move America into the future."

Internet reacts to Joe Biden's tweet

Netizens slammed the incumbent in response to his post, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Safe streets, children not being sexualized in school, closed borders, strong military, low prices, strong middle class, no late term abortions, thriving small businesses, neutral DOJ, and being war averse are old ideas?" asked a user sarcastically.

"You’re trying to move America into a dystopian society. You have sold us out to your globalist handlers," wrote another.

"Your ideas have doubled the cost of living," stated one user.

"You have destroyed all that is good here in America," chided one user.

"'Trump’s ideas are old.' Says the walking corpse," mocked a user.

Another user commented, "Joe Biden calling anyone old is pure projection. He’s been in government all his life and has accomplished nothing positive. Now he’s made inflation and prices high. Wages are low. $7 trillion added to the debt. 10 million illegals. That’s no future America wants."

One user jibed, "Trump's ideas are old…dude you've been running the same ideas for 50 years…"
