WASHINGTON, DC: The hand-picked candidate for the Republican National Committee leadership, the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, stated she believes Republican voters would approve of the political party covering the former president's skyrocketing legal bills.

Ahead of the South Carolina primary, Lara Trump stated on Wednesday that she was unaware of the RNC's policies about covering Donald Trump's legal costs in several civil and criminal cases.

She expressed her belief that a large number of GOP voters, who view his court issues as political persecution, would embrace the notion.

“That’s why people are furious right now. And they see the attacks against him. They feel like it’s an attack not just on Donald Trump but on this country. So yeah I think that is a big interest to people, absolutely,” Lara Trump said.

Not only is Trump spending millions on legal fees, but his debts exceed half a billion dollars. Despite leading the GOP presidential primary, Trump has not yet been announced as the party's nominee.

That did not deter him from publicly advocating last week for the resignation of the RNC's present leaders and proposing Lara Trump to take on the role of co-chair. He suggested Michael Whatley, the North Carolina GOP's current chair, take over as chair.

She informed reporters on Wednesday that by appointing a member of the Trump family to run the RNC, GOP voters will have greater faith in the organization.

"Having someone like me in there I think will go a long way for people. I can assure you that my loyalty is to my father-in-law and I will make sure that every penny is used properly. It should be going to fight for Nov 5 for the causes that we care about," she said.

These factors included regaining control of the Senate, electing Trump president in November, and expanding the Republican majority in the House through the nomination of "patriots, America first candidates."

The RNC is not anticipated to formally adopt changes until its meeting later in the spring, and current Chair Ronna McDaniel has privately agreed that no changes would be made until after Saturday's vote in South Carolina.

Even though McDaniel was once personally chosen by Donald Trump to head the party's political apparatus, the former president had grown resentful of her as some of his allies voiced grievances about the party's financial situation, recent electoral losses, and the belief that the party had not done enough to combat voter fraud, which Trump has blamed for his loss in the 2020 election.
