Adam Kinzinger predicts excuse Trump could use to replace Vance, Internet says 'only Dems do such thing'
WASHINGTON, DC: Former Representative Adam Kinzinger, a Republican from Illinois, predicted a potential move by former president Donald Trump to replace Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate.
Reports indicate that Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, might regret choosing Vance amid the evolving dynamics of the race and the concerns over his favorability ratings.
Adam Kinzinger opens up on potential VP change
According to recent CNN numbers, Vance has seen low favorability ratings, raising questions about his suitability as a vice-presidential candidate.
According to a CNN/SSRS poll, 28% of individuals in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin support Vance, while 44% oppose the MAGA senator.
Vance's net favorable rating of -16 points in his home area is higher than his national rating of -6 points (28% favorable against 34% negative).
According to CNN's senior political statistics reporter Harry Enten, Vance was the least popular non-incumbent vice presidential contender after a party convention since 1980 as well as the first to have an average net negative favorability rating.
This situation has led to speculation about Trump possibly replacing him on the ticket.
Kinzinger, who served as an Illinois congressman from 2011 to 2023, took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his views on the matter.
"There is a greater than nothing, but less than likely chance that Donald replaces @JDVance on the ticket. He will say 'the Dems did it so I can,'" Kinzinger's posted.

He will say “the Dems did it so i can”
His comments highlight the uncertainty surrounding Vance's position and suggest a potential justification Trump could use for the change.
Kinzinger, a prominent critic of Trump, has been vocal about his disapproval of the former president and the current Republican Party.
Following this year's Republican National Convention (RNC), Kinzinger declared the death of the GOP, reflecting his frustration with the party's direction, Newsweek noted.
JD Vance's controversial remarks and low favorability may upend his VP candidacy
JD Vance has faced backlash for his past comments on women without children.
One in 2021 referring to them as "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."
He also criticized prominent Democrats like Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for not having children, questioning their stake in the country's future during the interview.
In response to the criticism, Vance defended his remarks as sarcasm. "Obviously, it was a sarcastic comment," he said during an interview on 'The Megyn Kelly Show' on Friday, July 26.
"I've got nothing against cats," he said. He clarified that his comments were aimed at criticizing the Democratic Party for being anti-family and anti-child, CBS News noted.
JD Vance slams Jennifer Aniston, calls her 'disgusting'
Vance also responded to criticism from actress Jennifer Aniston who condemned his remarks about childless women.
Aniston wrote on Instagram, "I truly can’t believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States."
She added, "I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too."
Vance called such comments "disgusting," noting that his daughter is only two years old and expressing his belief in the importance of families and babies.
Despite the controversy and negative polling, Trump defended Vance during an appearance on Fox News, calling him "fantastic" and suggesting that the timing of Kamala Harris's endorsement by President Joe Biden would not have affected his choice.
Trump stated, "it wouldn't have mattered" if Harris was tapped before he announced his running mate.
Internet reacts to JD Vance's potential end to VP candidacy
Internet reactions to the potential VP change have been mixed. Some users suggested that changing VPs midstream would be seen as ridiculous, referencing to the unsuccessful attempt by George McGovern in 1972.
Others argued that it could be done with party consent. One user pointed out, "No, only dems do such thing," while another speculated that Trump might indeed replace Vance due to his perceived unpopularity and controversial remarks.
"Oh, Trump is definitely going to replace him. If you saw his face when he asked the crowd at his last rally if they liked JD, then you know he’s been thinking about it. That’s what happens when your VP pick can only make themselves laugh at their own jokes. Doesn’t help that he’s being called a sofasexual either," wrote another.
One simply said, "NOT A CHANCE."
We’ll see. But changing VPs in midstream will seem ridiculous. The last presidential candidate to do that was George McGovern in 1972.

Didn’t really work out well.
Whatever. It’s the VP. It can be changed with party consent etc.
