NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of the Department of Homeland Security responded to the unprecedented 302,000 migrant encounters documented by the CBP in December during an appearance on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' on Wednesday.

He claimed that climate change is responsible for the illegal entry of the migrants. Following this news, Fox News host Sean Hannity took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to mock Mayorkas.

Several other X users also took a brutal jab at Mayorkas as they called him a “comedian.”

Fox News host Sean Hannity took to X and wrote, “'CLIMATE CHANGE?': Mayorkas Blames Climate for Record-Breaking 302K Migrant Encounters in December.”

Hannity’s tweet featured an article from his official website where it was reported that DHS Alejandro Mayorkas is alleging climate change caused a hike in the number of migrants in December.

During a recent appearance on ‘Morning Joe’, host Willie Geist asked Mayorkas, “The border patrol in the month of December processed more migrants entering the United States illegally than any month in the history of that agency. Why is that happening? How do you explain it?”

Mayorkas responded, “We are seeing the greatest number of displaced people, not only at our southern border, not only in the western hemisphere but across the globe.”

He continued, “I am involved in bilateral and multi-lateral meetings with my counterparts from foreign countries in Europe, Asia, the Indo-Pacific, all over the world. And migration, the challenge of displaced people is a subject that comes up in every single conversation.”

Mayorkas further added, “We have the effects of climate change, poverty, increasing level of authoritarianism, the very many challenges that are at the root cause of the displacement of people around the world.”

Internet dubs Alejandro Mayorkas a ‘comedian’

Many X users took a brutal jab at Alejandro Mayorkas after he blamed climate change and other factors for the border crisis.

One person wrote, “Impeach Mayorkas on Jan 10th Enough is Enough,” and another said, “He blames anything for everything.”

An X user simply mocked Mayorkas questioning, “So let me get this straight. 320k people left Central America & Africa to be bussed to Chicago & Minnisota in December because the weather is better where they're going???? 😂😂😂”

One more X user slammed Mayorkas, “Mayorkas is insane,” and another trolled adding, “This guy missed his calling . He should have been a stand up comedian.”

“Mayorkas is unqualified for the job. He's useless,” called out another person.
