WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has issued a request to Senate Democrats asking for an immediate probe against Justice Samuel Alito after he was accused of flying an upside-down American flag outside his home in Virginia.

Besides, another report alleged that Alito’s vacation house in New Jersey displayed the “Appeal to Heaven” flag, which was similar to the one used by rioters during the January 6, 2021, Capitol building attack.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls Alito’s flag incidents ‘extraordinary breach’

The left-wing politician appeared on MSNBC's ‘All In With Chris Hayes’, on Wednesday, May 22, where she said, as reported by The Gazette, “This is an alarm that I've been sounding for quite some time now. I think that what we are seeing here is an extraordinary breach... of not just the trust and the stature of the Supreme Court, but we are seeing a fundamental challenge to our democracy.”

She continued, “Samuel Alito has identified himself with the same people who raided the Capitol on January 6 and is now going to be presiding over court cases that have deep implications over the participants of that rally."

“And while this is a threat to our democracy, Democrats have a responsibility for ... defending our democracy. And in the Senate, we have gavels — there should be subpoenas going out. There should be active investigations that are happening,” she added emphatically.

During the interview, Ocasio-Cortez also mentioned that instead of only focusing on “campaign mode,” Democrats “need to be in governance mode.”

“We need to be in accountability mode, with every lever that we have because we cannot take a Senate majority for granted, a House majority for granted, or a White House for granted,” she added.

Internet asks for Samuel Alito’s removal

Meanwhile, many people have agreed with Ocasio-Cortez as they thrashed Alito online.

An X user tweeted, “He needs to be gone asap!” Another commented, “Impeach him!”

“This is beyond disgusting,” wrote a third.

A fourth user said, “These two Alito flags symbolize a dire narrative for our country: one represents a rejection of democracy, and the other envisions a theocratic future. The symbolism is chilling. However, it's not too late. We must fight back.”

“I don't think @AOC should be waiting on the Senate to do something. The House Democrats have a tremendous amount of leverage over Speaker Johnson. They should demand that an impeachment investigation begin immediately with the committee made up of half Dems and half Republicans,” someone else added.

A tweet read, "She's right, again. Alito's continuing presence on the court demeans and subverts the other two branches." "Clearly not the person that should be in the highest court of the land," another added.
