WASHINGTON, DC: Sen Amy Klobuchar (D-Mn) believes President Joe Biden will be greeted with overwhelming love as he takes the stage on the first night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday, August 19.

Biden is scheduled to deliver the opening address at the DNC, where he will be officially handing over the baton of the 2024 election to his Vice President and Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris.

During her appearance on the Sunday, August 18, episode of 'Inside with Jen Psaki,' Klobuchar hailed Biden for upholding democracy throughout his time in office. The incumbent, who was initially the presumptive party nominee for 2024, suspended his reelection campaign as voices grew louder expressing concern over his health, and endorsed Harris in his stead on July 21.

Speaking of the DNC, MSNBC host Jen Psaki said that it was not just about officially recognizing those at the top of the party ticket, but also "about honoring the legacy of Joe Biden, his presidency, (and) his commitment to public service".

"What do you think the hall is going to be on tomorrow night when he (Biden) speaks?" she asked the senator.

"There is going to be so much love for Joe Biden," replied Klobuchar. "There is going to be tears of joy when he walks into that hall. What he has done... and I love that the major focus of this is going to be on democracy. He literally saved our democracy in the US."

"He beat Donald Trump. He was sworn in (after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot)... Some people were saying, 'Put it in a bunker' after the insurrection, and Joe Biden says, 'No. We are going to be out there on that platform that they first invaded. We don't care if we have windows that aren't real, or we have to spray paint the pillars- we're going to be out there. We're going to take back that platform.'"

"So on Monday night, you're going to hear him talk about that democracy that he has upheld. He has upheld it with voting rights, he has upheld it with his fight to save Ukraine- to stand up for democracy. He has fought for it with how he has done things for the people, which is a theme of that night. And I just think everyone is going to want to give him a big hug," she added.

Conservatives slam Amy Klobuchar's comments online

MAGA supporters on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) trolled Amy Klobuchar for heaping praises on President Biden, and labeled her comments as "gaslighting". The following tweets demonstrate the prevalent take.

"Communism and socialism.. Democrats have nothing to do with Democracy in 2024," wrote a user.

"Nothing says democracy like a coup 🤣🤣🤣" jibed another.

"More propaganda in the works. Wait until til the riots start. No democrat is safe. They never try these riots in red states. And we are a constitutional republic. If we can keep it," stated a third.

"The DNC is going to be a dumpster fire. They can gaslight this all they want but they won’t be able to hide it," chided a fourth.

"If Democrats didn’t gaslight, lie and cheat they would never win," quipped a fifth user.

"These people should be laughed out of rooms, not lauded," commented another.
