WASHINGTON, DC: Following the recent debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, political analysts have said that special counsel Robert Hur has been "vindicated."

Hur's February report concluded that no criminal charges would be brought against Biden for his improper retention of classified documents as, according to him, Biden is "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

What did Robert Hur observe in his investigation of Joe Biden?

In his report, Hur noted Biden's memory limitations, stating, "Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone from whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt.”

"It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,” he had observed, according to Fox News.

Biden's debate performance has led several political analysts to suggest that Hur's observations were accurate.

Jim Geraghty, National Review's senior political correspondent and a Washington Post contributing columnist, said on social media, "You know who’s looking really vindicated tonight? Special counsel Robert Hur."

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany says the country is shocked after Joe Biden’s debate performance

Charles CW Cooke, a senior writer at National Review Online, echoed Geraghty's sentiment, writing, "Robert Hur deserves an apology."

Former Trump-era White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany also referenced Hur in her comments about Biden's debate performance, stating, "Biden is worse than anyone knew. Robert Hur must have been truly shocked. Now the country is."

The report detailed Biden's struggles during his interview with Hur, including forgetting when his vice-presidential term ended and began and displaying hazy memories of significant events like his son Beau's death and the Afghanistan debate.

Demand for release of tapes grows amid Joe Biden’s poor debate performance

Following Biden's debate performance, there have been growing calls from media figures and the public for the release of the audio tapes from Hur's interview with Biden.

Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle wrote on social media, "If you hold out hope that Biden’s performance on Thursday was just an aberration, you should call for the administration to release the tapes of his interview with Robert Hur so we can all hear what he sounds like when he doesn’t have a cold."

This sentiment was echoed by many on social media, with one user writing, "We need those tapes, and we need them now."

Another stated, "The debate proved the reason why Garland is suppressing evidence and why he should be indicted," while yet another commented, "Now you see why the regime is trying to keep the Hur tapes private. They must be worse than the debate performance."
