NEW YORK: Corrupt prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, notorious for his role as Robert Mueller’s "pit bull" during the Russian collusion investigation, has once again found himself in the spotlight.

On Wednesday, Weissmann openly gushed over Judge Juan Merchan as the jury deliberated in the highly publicized lawfare trial against former President Donald Trump.

Weissmann, who spent over two years unsuccessfully attempting to implicate Trump in the Russian collusion hoax, seemed elated by the ongoing trial led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Donald Trump's historic hush money trial

In April 2023, Bragg indicted Trump on 34 felony counts related to alleged hush payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels, also known as Stephanie Clifford, through Trump’s then-attorney Michael Cohen.

The payments were purportedly made to silence Daniels and prevent the story of their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.

As jury deliberations began on Wednesday, Judge Merchan instructed the jurors to consider one of three predicate crimes that Trump allegedly committed.

Controversially, Judge Merchan permitted jurors to choose any of the three predicate crimes without requiring unanimous agreement on the specific crime committed—an action that has generated considerable criticism

Former Trump DOJ official Jeffrey Clark argued that this method of mixing and matching crimes violates the Due Process Clause.

Amid this contentious legal environment, Weissmann celebrated the proceedings, expressing his admiration for Judge Merchan. "With respect to Judge Merchan, I am like now, I have like a man crush on him," Weissmann remarked.

On Wednesday afternoon, Judge Merchan dismissed the courtroom for the day without a verdict, leaving the nation awaiting the jury’s decision in the hush money case against Trump.

"This clown? Andrew Weismann, a top prosecutor on Mueller’s team, 'accidentally wiped' his cell phone, causing the data to be lost. I'll bet @weissmann11 is thrilled with a judge that is just as corrupt as he is," stated a user.
