WASHINGTON, DC: Andrew Wolfe has been identified as one of two West Virginia National Guard members shot on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 26, near the Farragut West Metro Station in Washington, DC. The other victim, a female National Guard member, has not yet been publicly named.

Wolfe, 29, is in critical condition and undergoing surgery. His former high school, Musselman High School in West Virginia, shared the news, urging the community to keep him and his family in their thoughts.

“Our Applemen community is deeply saddened to learn that Musselman High School alumnus Andrew Wolfe was one of the National Guardsmen injured in the shooting in Washington, DC today,” the school wrote. “Please keep Andrew, his family, and all those affected in your thoughts. We will share updates as we receive them.”.

Friends and acquaintances have rallied online, offering prayers and support. One post read, “Andrew Wolfe, one of the WV National Guard Guardsmen, is in critical condition tonight after being shot by an Afghan illegal, Rahmanullah Lakanwal. PRAY FOR HIM! PRAY FOR A MIRACLE! PRAY FOR THE FAMILY! DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS! DEPORT THEM ALL!”



Another user wrote, "Dear God, please save Andrew Wolfe, heal him, he did nothing wrong, he deserves his life. In Jesus Christ Name. Amen."



A separate post referred to him as a hero: “Please pray for Andrew Wolfe, he’s one of the Hero National Guardsmen in the Hospital right now. He’s been undergoing surgery for several hours. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING."



Wolfe is also known for participating in regional cornhole tournaments. The Beltway Baggers organization, which hosts these events, shared, a statement "As we head into Thanksgiving, please keep our friend in your prayers. He was shot today while serving our country, and our hearts are with him and his family. We’re praying for his strength, healing, and for his family during this incredibly difficult time. We love you Andy"



Wolfe, a former Musselman High School student, was confirmed as one of the two National Guard members wounded. His community has expressed sorrow and support for him and his family.

The shooter, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, allegedly opened fire on Wolfe and a female Guard member. Both were rushed to separate hospitals. FBI Director Kash Patel and Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser said the attack is being treated as a “targeted shooting."

The other National Guard member, a woman, was shot in the chest and head, but her identity has not been released. After the initial shots, other guardsmen and police quickly responded. The suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was shot and taken into custody. Both wounded soldiers were rushed to separate hospitals.  



President Donald Trump expressed support for the victims and ordered an additional 500 National Guard personnel to be deployed to the city. On Truth Social, Trump referred to the shooter as an “animal” and stated he would “pay a very steep price."
