Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek share rare insight into their special ‘connection’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek have offered a glimpse into their strong bond and friendship in a new interview.
The two actresses had worked together in 2021’s 'Eternals' before coming together for a new movie, 'Without Blood', in which Jolie directed Hayek. The new film, based on Alessandro Baricco's book, was released in theaters on September 18.

While speaking with PEOPLE recently, the Mexican-American actress said that her and Jolie’s conversations on set were “delicious” and “very organic.”
“I love her mind and I get her. So I think when you know somebody gets you, you feel safe and you can be whoever you are in whatever circumstances,” the 60-year-old shared.

Adding her insight into it, the ‘Maleficent’ star noted, “I think it’s so nice we met at this later stage in our life. Because we’ve been through so many similar things, experienced different things, and somehow have landed as older women in a very similar place.”
But Hayek interrupted Jolie by jokingly saying, “Even though I’m much older than her, by the way.”
The mother-of-six objected, asserting, “Not that much older!” as she added, “To appreciate that friendship and that bond and that understanding — I haven’t had that kind of a connection in my life.”
Agreeing with her friend, Hayek stated, “It’s hard to find that connection. And I think that’s what part of the movie is also about, how difficult it is to communicate, to connect.”

Further into the interview, the film producer also revealed her and Jolie’s unfiltered moments on the set of 'Without Blood'.
“Sometimes we would start passionately screaming at each other. Then I start crying and she hugs me, then we’re laughing nonstop. And from the outside, I could see people say, ‘What’s going on?’” Hayek said.
Hayek further added that she “can say whatever. She’s never offended because it’s coming from me. And we’re talking about issues, and then we start crying because we’re moved, not because we made each other cry... And then we say something stupid and we start cracking up.”

This new interview came days after Jolie spoke about motherhood and her children — sons Maddox, 25, and Pax, 22, daughters Zahara, 21, and Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18 — during an exclusive interview with L’Officiel.
Regarding Maddox and Pax, she said, “Maddox is focusing on being a pilot, and Pax has his photography, but I think he does have an interest in film.”
The A-lister further asserted that “as a parent, you try to do many things, but you also try to not get in the way of this human being who has a life separate from yours and so much potential in their own mind. You want to make sure that you support them.”
