Salma Hayek admits feeling pressured 'to make a certain amount of money'
The Oscar-nominated actress revealed to the WSJ that she and Pinault do not have a "prenuptial agreement" that divides their assets and that they maintain their financial affairs "separate."
Hayek claimed that the more she considers it these days, the more she wants to raise her personal net worth. "I support a lot of the aspects of my life and myself," she told the outlet.
"I have the pressure to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more," she added.
She claimed that her French businessman husband respects her work ethic. She remarked, "I think he finds it kind of sexy," reported Page Six.
According to the WSJ, Hayek was born into affluence since her father was an oil executive, but by the time she was in her 20s, he had lost his fortune. After relocating to Los Angeles, the Mexican actress finally became the primary provider for her family back home.
"That’s when I became the best version of myself," she remarked. Following her marriage to Pinault—whose business owns high-end labels like Gucci and Saint Laurent—Hayek noted that people in her immediate vicinity were constantly interested in talking about money.
The 'Eternals' actress remarked, "To me, the excitement about having a lot of money was that I didn’t have to think about money, and it turned out all people wanted to talk to me about was money."
"Strangers coming to me that aren’t even friends, but they think we should be friends because they’re rich too," she added.
Salma Hayek addresses critics of her marriage to Francois-Henri Pinault
In a February 2021 interview on the 'Armchair Expert' podcast with Dax Shepard, Salma Hayek, who recently appeared on 'Black Mirror' and in Angelina Jolie's movie 'Without Blood', addressed those who harbor doubts about her marriage to Pinault.
Regarding Pinault, Shepard remarked, "I'm gonna be honest, I didn't know who he was, I just heard or maybe read in a headline that you had married a really rich guy - maybe that's why she married him."
Hayek replied, "You know, when I married him, everybody said, 'Oh, it's arranged marriage, she married him for the money.'"
"I'm like, 'Yeah, whatever, b****! Think what you want.' Fifteen years together, and we are strong in love. And I don't even get offended, I'm like, 'Yeah, whatever,'" she said, according to Daily Mail.
"You know the thing is that in pictures you cannot begin to guess the magic in him - he's made me become a much better person, and grow in such a good, healthy way," Hayek said of her husband.
The 'House of Gucci' star, who has a 17-year-old daughter named Valentina with Pinault, also divulged in the WSJ interview that she is thinking about a number of business projects with the teenager.
"Nothing in my life is typical ... I'm passionate but I'm a strategist," Hayek told the outlet.
