Anna Kendrick reveals ‘icky’ incident she faced with filmmaker
Anna Kendrick shared, “I remember a director once in a room full of 100 extras or something being like, ‘Hey, on this next one just try something. Just make something up. Just improv something'.”
“And I did it and then the director called cut and came over and, once again in front of 100 extras, was like, ‘Oof, let’s go back to the script!’” she recalled.
The ‘Twilight’ star continued, “It really felt like a very specific power move thing to embarrass me, to gain dominance. It was very icky.”
“And then the thing that I improved ended up in the trailer. So, f**k you!” she added, shocking the live audience hearing the story.
Kendrick, however, did not reveal the identity of the filmmaker.
Anna Kendrick on directing 'Woman of the Hour'
Anna Kendrick also talked about being a director herself now with 'Woman of the Hour’.
She told Variety, “It’s a lot easier for me to talk in extreme detail about certain moments in certain scenes, or about movies that were inspirations than it is to answer the questions that come up the most frequently — ‘Why this project? Why did you want to direct?’”
She then elaborated, “I think there is a bit of an expectation that I speak quite eloquently about the unique experience of being a female director. And then you’re going, ‘I’ve done this one time. I probably shouldn’t be, like, representative of those kinds of big questions.’”
Anna Kendrick says directing a movie is ‘dangerously revealing’
Anna Kendrick also disclosed that writing her memoir, ‘Scrappy Little Nobody’, was less tougher for her than directing the film.
“Those were real stories from my real life, but I was presenting them in ways that were often glib and mostly designed to be lighthearted and entertaining. Even though these are not stories from my real life, it feels, like, dangerously revealing,” she noted.
“It feels like I’m revealing something about myself in every frame, no matter if it’s intentional or not,” Kendrick added.
