Anne Hathaway reveals Leonardo DiCaprio was her childhood crush: 'I was completely obsessed'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Anne Hathaway might have been the childhood crush of many, but she also had her own celebrity crushes growing up and was "completely obsessed with all of them."
During the promotion of her recently released film 'Verity', the actress shared three names, but what turned heads was the third name she mentioned. It was none other than Titanic’s Jack Dawson, aka Leonardo DiCaprio.
Anne Hathaway shyly reveals Leonardo DiCaprio was her childhood celebrity crush
During a BuzzFeed Celeb interaction, Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett discussed their celebrity crushes. Hathaway smiled and said, “I'm so embarrassed by mine.” Johnson, who was sitting right next to her, then shared that she wanted to know.
The 'Princess Diaries' star revealed that it wasn't just one crush but three, saying, “It was a three-way.” Hartnett then guessed, “It was Patrick Swayze.” Hathaway revealed, “It was a three-way tie. And I was completely obsessed with all of them.”
Her first crush was Eddie Vedder, the second was Pete Sampras, and the third spot was taken by none other than DiCaprio.
She even brought up “the Annie Leibovitz shoot with the swan,” while talking about DiCaprio, to which Johnson agreed. Hathaway then joked, “Don't tell Leo.” The trio then moved on to discuss Hartnett and Johnson's celebrity crushes.
Hathaway and DiCaprio have yet to share the screen in a film.
Anne Hathaway's 'Verity' follows a mystery filled with secrets and obsession
Hathaway's latest film 'Verity' is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological romantic thriller novel and was released on Friday, October 2. The film revolves around three central characters: Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway; Lowen Ashleigh, played by Johnson; and Verity’s husband, Jeremy Crawford, portrayed by Hartnett. The film is directed by Michael Showalter.
The story follows Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is trying to find a wider audience for her work. Her life takes a U-turn when she is approached by a publisher who wants her to complete an unfinished novel by bestselling author Verity.
Things take unexpected twists and turns when Johnson’s character discovers a manuscript. The question is: Is it someone's thoughts, or is it a confession of a murder?
Not to forget, Hathaway is also a producer of the film. During an interview, she said, “So all the sort of tingles- the so-wrong-it’s-right things about the book, we had to make sure that that was in there in the film.”
