Anne Hathaway reveals she's expecting third child with husband Adam Shulman
OJAI, CALIFORNIA: Actress Anne Hathaway is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, announcing the joyful news in an Instagram video shared on Friday, June 19. In the clip, she appeared in a flowy white dress and revealed her growing baby bump while Barbara Lewis' song 'Baby I'm Yours' played in the background.
The actress shares two sons, Jonathan and Jack, with Shulman, whom she married in 2012 after the pair first met at the Palm Springs Film Festival. The duo have made several red carpet appearances together over the years and also collaborated professionally on the 2014 film 'Song One,' which they produced, with Hathaway starring alongside actor Johnny Flynn.
Anne Hathaway announces third pregnancy with baby bump reveal
Announcing the news on Instagram, she captioned the post, "x Baby, I'm yours x." The couple welcomed their first son in 2016, followed by Jack in 2019. Earlier this year, the actress offered a glimpse into her family life during an interview for Elle's Summer 2026 'The Epic Issue.'
Speaking about her sons, she said they are currently "in this really fun zone where we all love hanging out together, which I understand may change. Well, we will always love hanging out with them, but their feelings about us might change."
The actress said she and Shulman are fully embracing this stage of parenthood and enjoying every moment together as a family.
“We're all just in it," Hathaway said, adding, "Adam and I are soaking it up. I'm having the most wonderful time with my family, living in the city of my dreams, and work seems to be going really, really well. So rather obnoxiously, I'm having a great time as everything else burns."'
Hathaway has also previously reflected on how motherhood changed her perspective on life. In an interview with WSJ Magazine in March 2022, she said, "I didn't feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom."
"It's not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word," she added, "And that meant stopping any nonsense that I had going on inside myself. And it's little breaks that you give yourself sometimes when you know that you're not being your best self.”
Anne Hathaway reflects on fertility struggles ahead of welcoming third child
Hathaway has been candid about the challenges she faced on her journey to motherhood. In 2024, she revealed that she had experienced a miscarriage and spoke openly about the emotional impact of the loss.
"It's really hard to want something so much and to wonder if you're doing something wrong," she told Vanity Fair.
She had also previously discussed her fertility struggles before the birth of her younger son, Jack. Speaking to the Associated Press in 2019, she said, "I think that we have a very one-size-fits-all approach to getting pregnant."
She further said, "You get pregnant and for the majority of cases, this is a really happy time. But a lot of people who are trying to get pregnant: That's not really the story. Or that's one part of the story."
The pregnancy announcement comes during a busy year for the actress. She has already seen the release of 'Mother Mary' and the highly anticipated 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' in 2026. She is also set to appear in 'The Odyssey,' premiering on July 17, where she plays Penelope, the wife of Odysseus.
Another upcoming project, 'The End of Oak Street,' is scheduled for release on August 14.
