The actress found herself caught between her love for the sport and the strict protocol of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's phone-free wedding reception.

During a recent interview with LADbible, the actress was handed a Lionel Messi face cutout and a miniature Messi doll, prompting her to share a hilarious behind-the-scenes story.

Without explicitly naming Swift and Kelce's July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden, Taylor-Joy recalled how she kept tabs on the thrilling Argentina vs Cabo Verde match.

"It's a tiny, Messi. I mean this. Yeah, hard, hard green. So exciting. What's going on? I was actually in a phone-free event recently, and somebody that was working the tables. A waiter came up to me and was like, just so, you know, Argentina is just one minute, like, thank you," she recalled. 

"Messi, thank you for making our country so proud. What does Messi mean to the Argentinian people? Everything football means, every. It's actually, it's a very interesting being Anglo-Argentine, because. Neither country messes around with football," Taylor-Joy added. 

Driven by her love for the sport, the soccer fanatic managed to score a match update despite the event's strict ban on electronic devices.
