Eric Stonestreet says Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce gave guests 'the normalcy they deserve' at wedding
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Eric Stonestreet is reflecting on his experience attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's star-studded wedding, revealing what made the celebration so memorable while also admitting he initially questioned whether the invitation was even real.
'The Modern Family' actor described the July 3 ceremony at New York City's Madison Square Garden as a rare event where Swift and Kelce created a sense of normalcy despite the attention surrounding them. The couple exchanged vows in front of an estimated 1,000 family members, friends, and tastemakers.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Stonestreet described the wedding as "awesome" and said he and his wife, Lindsay Schweitzer, made a conscious effort to respect the couple's privacy throughout the event.
"We were just very conscious of being respectful to the couple," he said adding, "I didn't want to peep before. I didn't want to peep after. And then once people started putting stuff out there, of course we were proud to be invited."
Reflecting on his favorite moment from the celebration, Stonestreet said the couple managed to create an atmosphere where they could simply enjoy their wedding despite the attention surrounding them.
He then stated, "I think my favorite moment was just that they created a place that they could have the normalcy that they deserve. And it just happened to be at Madison Square Garden with security making sure everybody was safe and good and they could just have a night for themselves."
Stonestreet also praised the couple for making their guests feel appreciated.
"I really thought of it as what a gift they gave to us too, it's one thing nobody's talking about is what a gesture it was to those people that they invited and to welcome us and to provide such an incredible night and then to provide such incredible generous donations to charities in New York and Kansas City and everywhere else."
On July 4, he also shared an Instagram video of himself and Schweitzer dressed for the occasion, writing, "I guess I can say now. We were at a wedding in New York City last night. Two truly special people found each other and what a joy to be able to celebrate them. And also, Lindsay is so hot."
Eric Stonestreet says he initially thought Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding invitation was 'spam'
Speaking with 'Chiefs Wire' in an interview published on Wednesday, July 15, Stonestreet admitted he and Schweitzer were thrilled to receive an invitation but initially were not convinced it was genuine.
"I'm not gonna pretend like we weren't excited, and anybody that pretends like it's not cool that you were invited is just dumb, and it's just fake as far as I'm concerned," he said adding, "We were very excited. We thought it was spam, like everybody else."
He further explained, "When we got the invitation, we were very careful. We couldn't verify with anybody, we just had to trust it was real because I wasn't breaking any rules and Lindsay wasn't either."
He also spoke about his connection to the couple, saying he knows Kelce "very well" and has known Swift for years after presenting her with the Favorite Country Female Artist award at the American Music Awards in 2012.
"I know Taylor a little bit and got to hand her an award many years ago, which was fun," he said. As a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, he added, "we've seen Travis from when he was drafted and we've seen him through different phases of his life."
