WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez retaliated angrily against protesters in a Brooklyn movie theater who wanted the left-leaning congresswoman to refer to Israel's military operation in Gaza as a 'genocide' - which she told them she had previously done.

Around 5 pm on Monday, March 4, Ocasio-Cortez lost her temper and uttered expletives while being harassed by a few protesters at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. She was accompanied by her fiance Riley Roberts.

The clip shows the demonstrators harassing Ocasio-Cortez, 34, inside the downtown Brooklyn theater, claiming that she hadn't openly referred to Israel's bombardment of Palestinian land as a 'genocide'.

She told one male protester who held an iPhone near her face, "I need you to understand that this is not OK." Meanwhile, the protestor reverted, "It’s not OK that there’s a genocide happening and you’re not actively against it."

As she and her partner descended an escalator, Ocasio-Cortez responded, "You’re lying". The demonstrators kept up with the Democrat, who seemed angry as she headed for the door. Ocasio-Cortez confronted the demonstrators to defend herself once more in the space between sets of escalators before turning to leave.

After that, the footage shows everyone leaving, and Roberts turning to face the agitators. He said, "Stop, OK stop."

When questioned if she was worried the video footage might become viral, the lawmaker immediately launched into a rant. She said, "You’re gonna cut it … and you’re gonna clip this so that it’s completely out of context."

Although the congresswoman hasn't officially referred to Israel's retaliatory shelling of Gaza as genocide, she stated on Monday, "I already said that it was and you’all are just gonna pretend that it wasn’t over and over again. It’s f***d up, man. And you’re not helping these people, and you’re not helping them, you’re not helping them."

Following the International Court of Justice’s order to Israel to work to prevent genocidal acts against Palestinians in Gaza, the Democratic representative from New York argued on 'Meet the Press' that “large amounts of Americans” think “genocide” is the right term for what is happening in Gaza, the Guardian reported.
