AOC criticizes JD Vance's stance on Minneapolis shooting, says they have a 'fundamental difference'
AOC: “I understand that VP Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. WASHINGTON, DC: New York lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke to reporters outside the Capitol Hill on Friday, January 9, about the recent shooting in Minneapolis and the Trump administration’s stance on the matter.
Specifically speaking out about the Vice President JD Vance’s reaction to an ICE officer shooting and killing 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, AOC accused the vice president of being on board with the killing, who had previously termed it an act of self-defense, much like other Trump administration officials.
AOC says she and JD Vance differ on shooting perspective
While speaking to the reporters on Friday, AOC accused JD Vance of believing that the American people should be assassinated in the streets of the cities they lived in.
“That is a fundamental difference between Vice President Vance and I,” she stated.
AOC also stated that Vance believed that shooting a young woman, who was a mother of three, in the face three times was an “acceptable America” where he wanted to live, but she disagreed.

AOC had previously called for shooting a “murder” and stated that she believed ICE had turned into the nation’s “greatest fear” and had been for a long time.
“This will be used as an anti-civilian force, that it has no accountability at the end of the day,” she said on Wednesday.
AOC had also called for the ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, to be “prosecuted.”
JD Vance slams media for ‘shameless press propaganda’
On Friday, a cellphone video from moments before Jonathan Ross shot Renee Good made the rounds online.
The video showed a heated exchange between Good, Ross, and Good’s wife, Becca, in which Ross asked the women to step out of their car. Becca urged Good to drive off and seemingly hit Ross with her vehicle.
Vance shared the clip on his X account and criticized the way the media had been covering the situation.
He wrote that he agreed that Good’s death was a tragedy and that everyone should pray for her soul.
“But the media dishonesty about this officer is an all-time moment in shameless press propaganda,” he wrote on X.
Vance said that the ICE agent also had a family and had been “seriously injured” by a vehicle six months ago.
He also stated that he did have a reason to fear for his life and that he had a right to be safe while doing his job. Vance added that he wanted law enforcement officers to continue their jobs and return home safely to their families.
“If you don't like the immigration policy of the Trump administration, attack me. Leave our law enforcement alone,” JD Vance wrote as he urged the media to tell the truth about the Minneapolis shooting.
