SOFIA, BULGARIA: The shadow of World War III looms in the minds of many as Baba Vanga’s chilling predictions make waves online once again.

The blind Bulgarian mystic, who died in 1996, continues to capture public imagination with her prophecies — many of which believers claim have come eerily true. As the conflict between Israel and Iran Intensifies, followers of Vanga have flagged one of her old forecasts that feels disturbingly relevant, as per the Irish Star.

Often dubbed the “Nostradamus of the Balkans,” Vanga has been credited by her admirers with foreseeing world events long before they occurred. But despite her mythical status, critics continue to stress that most of her alleged quotes remain undocumented, based solely on secondhand accounts.

Baba Vanga’s chilling prophecy on World War III resurfaces amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel

According to followers, Baba Vanga warned of a devastating global war years ago.

One quote attributed to her reads: “As soon as Syria falls, expect a great war between the West and the East. In the spring, a war in the East will begin, and there will be a Third World War. A war in the East that will destroy the West.”

While vague in specifics, the language has reignited fears in 2025 as geopolitical tensions boil over.

Vanga also appeared to link the start of this war to the collapse of Syria — a development that, depending on interpretation, may already be underway or symbolically fulfilled.

The current regional flashpoints in the Middle East, particularly Iran’s friction with Israel, have only added fuel to these interpretations.

Baba Vanga’s mixed track record fuels both belief and skepticism around her World War III prophecy

Despite the growing buzz, it's worth noting that not all of Baba Vanga’s forecasts have come true. Her previous prediction that World War III would begin between 2010 and 2014 did not materialize.

Other unfulfilled visions include aliens arriving in 2023 to declare war on Earth and a nuclear disaster that would poison all of Asia.

Nonetheless, Vanga’s supporters continue to cite supposed successes, such as the rise of Barack Obama as the 44th US president, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and even 9/11.

Of the latter, she allegedly stated: “Horror! Horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing.”

This has been interpreted as a reference to the World Trade Center attacks and former president George W Bush.

Yet, due to the lack of written records, much of Vanga’s legacy remains steeped in mystery, hearsay, and a healthy dose of skepticism — even among her most ardent believers.

Israel intercepts Iranian missile as new strike triggers sirens across central region

In the early hours of Monday, June 23, Iran launched another missile, which was intercepted by Israel’s air defenses.

The IDF confirmed in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) that sirens were triggered across central Israel, though no direct injuries were reported, aside from anxiety cases and those hurt while seeking shelter.

"Sirens sounding across central Israel due to a missile launch from Iran,” the IDF said.

Iran had previously fired a wave of missiles at Israel on Sunday morning, injuring at least 21 people in targeted strikes on Haifa, Tel Aviv, Be’er Yaakov, and Nes Ziona, according to CBS News.

Donald Trump says US-Israel strikes 'obliterated' Iran's nuclear sites

On Saturday, President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States, in coordination with Israel, had launched joint airstrikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — describing the mission as “very successful.”

He announced that the heavily fortified Fordow facility had been “gone” and noted that the American aircraft involved were already on their way back. The move marks a significant escalation in the conflict, with the US now actively participating in Israel’s military campaign against Iran.

During a short address from the White House, Trump warned that Iran now faces a choice between “peace or tragedy,” declaring that its nuclear enrichment sites had been “completely and totally obliterated.”

The US assault on Iran reportedly involved B-2 stealth bombers equipped with bunker-busting munitions and submarine-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Trump also rejected assessments from US intelligence agencies that Iran was not actively building nuclear weapons, arguing the threat was imminent and demanded immediate action.
