LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Legendary singer and actress Barbra Streisand paid a moving tribute to veteran actor Robert Redford, honoring the memories they shared.
At the 98th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 15, she delivered a powerful performance of 'The Way We Were,' the track from their 1973 romantic drama of the same name. She said she misses him more than ever and that she loves him and always will.
In a rare live appearance, Streisand celebrated the life of her late friend Redford, the veteran actor who passed away on September 16, 2025, at the age of 89.

Just six months after the legendary actor’s passing, his 'The Way We Were' co-star took the stage for a touching tribute. “I miss him now more than ever, even how he loved teasing me,” Barbra shared. “He'd call me, ‘Babs.’ And I'd say, ‘Bob, you know, do I look like a Babs?’ But the way he said it made me laugh.”
“Many years later, we were talking on the phone about the usual, politics, art, Modigliani, our favourite,” she continued. “And as we were hanging up, he said, ‘Babs, I love you dearly, and I always will.’”
That phone call stayed with her and inspired the final note she wrote to Robert. “I ended it with, ‘I love you too,’ and I signed it ‘Babs.’” “He was thoughtful and bold,” she added. “I called him an intellectual cowboy who blazed his own trail.”
At 83, Barbra gave a heart-wrenching performance of 'The Way We Were's title song, the same track that won the Oscar for Best Original Song back in 1974.
Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand’s iconic film romance
In 'The Way We Were,' directed by Sydney Pollack, Redford and Streisand played an unexpected romantic pair.
“Every day on the set of The Way We Were was exciting, intense and pure joy,” Streisand shared in an Instagram post the day her co-star passed away.
This year’s Oscars In Memoriam segment honored beloved stars, including Diane Keaton, Rob Reiner and Catherine O’Hara, among others.
