Barron Trump's classmates say he's 'trying to be normal' on NYU campus despite high-profile background
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Barron Trump, former President Donald Trump's youngest son, has officially kicked off his freshman year at New York University. Despite him having his own security detail, fellow students observe that he blends in just like anyone else.
After much speculation, Trump confirmed a few weeks ago that Barron will attend a New York college, which turned out to be NYU's Stern School of Business.
Barron Trump's attendance at Stern hasn't changed classroom dynamics, say classmates
The US Sun carried out an exclusive interview with Barron Trump's classmates at Stern, revealing that his attendance has not changed the school's dynamics.
The 18-year-old, who travels from Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan to the university, is accompanied by Secret Service agents to his classes.
His fellow first-year students at Stern, Rohan and Aaruush, both 18, mentioned that the Secret Service allowed them to shake his hand.
"The Secret Service - they give him a little bit of a space and breathing room," revealed Rohan.
"Obviously he's very known. Not even just from his status. Also just physically, you can tell [who he is] he's clearly really tall," added Aaruush.
Last semester, Stern saw anti-war protests, leading to increased security measures on campus. A wall has been erected in front of the building's entrance, with security guards overseeing entry.
It remains uncertain whether the heightened security measures were maintained into the fall because of Barron's enrollment at the school.
NYU students not surprised by Barron Trump's enrollment at Stern
NYU students expressed that they were not surprised by Barron Trump's choice to enroll at Stern. Zarek and Dilan, both 18, stated that NYU was a "great school" and that Barron "deserved to be there."
"I'm not too surprised because he grew up here. And so I think he wanted to stay in Manhattan," said Aaruush.
They noted that having the Secret Service on campus wasn't bothersome to their studies.
Sloan, 20, said he hadn't even seen the Secret Service on campus in an interview with The US Sun.
"I hadn't heard until I found out he was here. I wasn't following the announcement made prior about a New York school. It wasn't something I really followed or cared too closely about," shared Sloan.
NYU students say Barron Trump fits in well at Stern
NYU students mentioned that Barron Trump has assimilated well into their classes at Stern. Aaruush noted that Barron does not leverage his position as the son of a former president to gain any special status on campus.
He remarked, "He doesn't like to use that privilege and use that, I guess, prestige to influence other people."
Aaruush further mentioned that Barron's height does make him a noticeable figure on campus; however, aside from that, he tends not to attract much attention.
"You know he's he's trying to be as normal as possible," said Aaruush.
Gianna, 19, stated that the campus climate has remained "exactly the same" since Barron's arrival. She added, "Life moves on, no one actually cares. He's just a kid. Yeah, there's a lot of wealthy kids in really good positions in life but, like, no one cares, you know?"
