Ben Shapiro mocks Tucker Carlson for insinuating 'globo homo' people wanted Nicolás Maduro removed
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Ben Shapiro just tossed another log on the fire in his ongoing feud with Tucker Carlson, this time over the latter’s eyebrow-raising claim that only 'globo homo' people wanted Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro kicked to the curb.
In a video reaction posted Saturday, January 3, the Daily Wire co-founder scoffed at the idea and argued there was actually someone else with the 'stones' to take on Maduro, and that's President Donald Trump.
Ben Shapiro pushes back on 'globo homo’ claim
Shapiro pointed to Carlson’s suggestion that opposition to Maduro could only come from so-called globalist progressives, not conservatives.
“People who have in the past, for example, suggested that the only people who would be against Nicolás Maduro’s continued regime are globo homo — for example, something Tucker Carlson said. Only ‘globo homo’ would want Maduro ousted because he’s supposedly a social conservative, which is not actually true,” Shapiro said.

He then framed Trump as proof that Carlson’s thesis doesn’t hold water.
“Well, I suppose the administration may have to explain to people like Tucker Carlson that, in fact, it was not ‘globo homo’ that ousted Nicolás Maduro, it was a conservative Republican president. A gutsy president who makes the calls to preserve America’s national security and her foreign interests," Shapiro added.
Tucker Carlson’s take on Venezuela
Shapiro’s remarks came in response to comments Carlson made back in October, when the former Fox News host praised Venezuela under Maduro as 'one of the most conservative countries' in the Western Hemisphere.
Carlson pointed to policies like bans on gay marriage, abortion, and sex change operations as evidence of Venezuela’s supposed social conservatism.
He also flagged opposition leader María Corina Machado. who won the opposition primary in 2023 before being barred from running in the 2024 election. The former Fox News anchor noted her support for gay marriage as proof that pro-gay forces were behind efforts to remove Maduro.
“So those of you who thought this whole project was globo homo — not crazy actually,” Carlson said.
The clip was posted on Carlson’s Facebook page under the headline, “Are we carrying out regime change in Venezuela in the name of gay marriage? It seems that way.”
A feud that keeps on giving
Of course, this wasn’t the first time Shapiro has publicly ridiculed Carlson’s view of Maduro. Back in November, Shapiro dismissed the argument outright during a conversation with Megyn Kelly. “Who gives a sh*t?!” he said after Kelly mentioned Carlson’s belief that Maduro was culturally conservative.
Last month, Shapiro branded Carlson a 'coward' who is 'destroying' the conservative movement. “Tucker Carlson has trafficked in nearly every conspiracy theory under the sun,” Shapiro said. “He has accused the Trump Administration of covering up a Mossad-run child sex trafficking ring, run by Jeffrey Epstein, without of course actually mentioning Donald Trump’s name, because Tucker is a coward when it comes to President Trump.”
Shapiro rattled off what he described as other conspiracy theories Carlson has pushed, including suggesting the US government played a role in the September 11 attacks. He also criticized Carlson’s interviews with Russian President Vladimir Putin, 'pornographer and accused human trafficker and r*pist' Andrew Tate, and America’s 'foremost Hitler apologist' Nick Fuentes.
Shapiro also accused Carlson of being oddly soft on America’s adversaries while harshly critical of US allies. According to Shapiro, Carlson has 'glazed' Iran and spoken favorably about Qatar, while routinely attacking Israel. On Russia, Shapiro blasted Carlson for claiming Vladimir Putin poses 'no threat' to Americans.
“This is Tucker Carlson’s typically anti-American foreign policy, which has become essentially indistinguishable from the thought of far-leftists like Noam Chomsky,” Shapiro said.
He also mocked Carlson’s recent critiques of capitalism, saying he sounds like 'Marxist thinkers' except when he’s promoting his own nicotine pouch company. “[Carlson] has become — by any honest assessment — an opponent of conservatism, an outsider masquerading as an insider, and destroying the character of the conservative movement in the process,” Shapiro said.
Tucker Carlson fires back
Carlson hasn’t exactly stayed quiet.
He has claimed Shapiro does not 'care about the country at all' and is more focused on Israel than on American issues.
In a November YouTube video titled 'Ben Shapiro Doesn’t Care About Americans, And He Just Proved It,' Carlson claimed Shapiro 'does not want to have' a serious conversation about how national debt is preventing Americans from getting married and starting families, an issue Carlson said Shapiro supposedly cares about.
