Kai Trump reveals doctor was ‘shocked’ after she battled two illnesses at college
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Kai Trump has opened up about a difficult start to college, revealing she was hit with strep throat and a sinus infection at the same time while struggling to eat during her first week at the University of Miami.
The 19-year-old freshman and golfer shared the details in her YouTube vlog, saying she was also dealing with the emotional stress of moving away from her family in Jupiter, Florida. Her health problems did not stop there, as she later said she believed she had food poisoning after eating sushi.
Kai Trump battled strep throat and a sinus infection
Kai said she had been dealing with a packed schedule, including six qualifiers, when she suddenly became sick.
“I've had six qualifiers. I ended up getting strep throat last week. On top of strep, I had a sinus infection, so I got two at once; it had never happened to me before,” she said.
Kai added that her doctor was surprised by the two illnesses happening at the same time.
“The doctor was even shocked that that happened. So I've been going through it,” she said.
The illnesses came as Kai was adjusting to living away from her family for the first time.
“I've been living alone, kind of crazy,” she said in the vlog.
Kai Trump went three days without eating
Her health problems were made harder by the fact that she had barely been eating.
Kai said her friend Emma stepped in with food after she had gone without eating for several days.
“Emma got me some frozen foods because I haven't eaten in like three days. So, Emma got me food,” Kai explained.
Emma said she could only carry so much but brought Kai several basic foods.
“I could only bring as much as I could carry. I mean, she's living off of diet sodas,” Emma said.
She added that she brought fruit and prosciutto, along with pasta and bread.
“So, I got her fruit and prosciutto. And then we got her some, like, pasta and bread and stuff that's just, like, basic foods, but she's basically living off of diet soda,” Emma said.
Kai Trump suspected food poisoning after eating sushi
Just when Kai was dealing with the two infections, she said another health problem followed.
She told viewers that she believed she had food poisoning after eating sushi.
“Last night I think I had food poisoning because I ate sushi and I threw up, so I don't know,” Kai said. “Not fun.”
As per Kai, the difficult first week was not just about adjusting to college life.
She was also trying to manage a demanding golf schedule while dealing with illness and being away from her family.
