PORTLAND, MAINE: In the last few days, former President Donald Trump has faced some significant news regarding ballots in different states.

From being disqualified in Colorado, to being able to stay on the Michigan ballot, all eyes are now on Maine.

Maine’s Democratic secretary of state, Shenna Bellows, on Thursday, December 28, removed Trump from the state’s presidential primary ballot under the Constitution’s insurrection clause, reported AP News.

In response to this decision, conservative host Benny Johnson, who has often shown his support for the former President has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to put Bellows on blast in several posts, and the internet has weighed in on the same.

When the news about Donald Trump being removed from Maine’s presidential primary ballot broke out, Benny Johnson posted on X, “BREAKING: Maine Secretary of State rules Trump is ineligible to appear on 2024 primary ballot.” With this, he also shared a screenshot of the official ruling.

Moments after that, Johnson shared a selfie of Bellows with President Joe Biden as the host formally introduced the Secretary of State to his followers and wrote, “Meet Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, who just ruled to kick Donald Trump off of the 2024 ballot.”

Johnson shared more information about Bellows, as he continued to share her picture with Biden and wrote, “Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows ran for Senate in 2014 where she was soundly rejected by the voters there. This is the person who just ruled to kick Donald Trump off of the 2024 ballot.”

He added, “She is disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of voters in her own state.”

Benny Johnson shares old social media posts by Shenna Bellows

Benny Johnson also dug up a post by Shenna Bellows on X from 2022 where she wrote, “The fundamental right of any American citizen to vote freely, fairly and to have their vote counted is the premise of our democracy. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are not values to be compromised away. #FreedomToVoteAct.”

The conservative host responded, “Except if you’re a Trump Voter, in that case, you just remove the candidate from the ballot altogether.”

A post from 2021 by Bellows was also shared by Johnson. In this, she wrote, “I stand with @katiehobbs and @JocelynBenson as they stand up for our democracy in the face of lies, misogyny, partisanship and dangerous attacks on the fundamental constitutional right of every American to vote. They’re democracy heroes.”

Johnson responded to the aforementioned post and wrote, “So cringe.”

Not only that, Johnson also dug up pictures from her other social media accounts where she posted pictures of her cats. In response to that, Johnson wrote, “Of course, she’s a cat lady.”
