WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative host Benny Johnson has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to explain the aftermath of George Santos’ expulsion and Kevin McCarthy’s resignation from Congress, both events that occurred only a few days apart from each other.

Previously, as explained by Johnson on social media, Republicans had a “4 vote majority” and after Santos and McCarthy, that will come down to a 2 vote majority.

In addition to this, Johnson also revealed that in February 2024, “Bill Johnson is vacating his seat.”

The conservative host then elaborated on the potential consequences, stating, that this is a “very dangerous situation to be in,” and the internet's response to the statement was swift.

Benny Johnson talks about Republican majority vote

After George Santos was expelled from Congress and ousted GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced he would be resigning at the end of 2023, Benny Johnson explained what this would mean for the House Republicans.

Johnson wrote, “Republicans had a 4 vote majority in the House— without George Santos it's a 3 vote majority. Without Kevin McCarthy in Congress, Republicans will have a 2 vote majority.”

He added, “And in February Bill Johnson is vacating his seat, leaving the GOP with a 1 seat majority.”

“If Republicans open up the floor on a day when even just one GOP member is absent or sick, Democrats can file a motion to vacate the chair and have their own Speaker election to hijack the House,” wrote Johnson.

He concluded, “It’s a very dangerous situation to be in.”

Internet reacts to Benny Johnson’s remarks on majority vote

After Benny Johnson explained what might happen in the absence of even one GOP member, after George Santos’ expulsion, and Kevin McCarthy’s resignation from Congress, the internet was quick to respond.

One user wrote, “The Republican Party is dead, gone. How do we start a new party that will represent the American people,” and another wrote, “I’m sorry, I know this is not a popular opinion, but it doesn’t change the fact, we need a new party.”

“I swear, this is what the republicans want…Scary times!” expressed one user, and another wrote, “Republicans are a s**t show.”

“It's almost like that was the plan,” weighed in one user, and another wrote, “It’s all planned. They are rotten to the core.”
