Bernie Sanders urges Americans to ‘demand’ cheaper prescriptions after Trump’s ‘500%’ boast
WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Bernie Sanders mocked President Donald Trump after the president made a confusing claim about prescription drug prices dropping by “400, 500 percent”.
Sanders responded with a sarcastic post on X aimed directly at Trump’s remarks.
Good news: Trump, who never lies, said he cut drug prices by 400-600%.

Quick. Go to your pharmacy. Demand a 400, 500%, 600% reduction on your drug prices. Tell them Trump sent you.
If that doesn’t work, tell Trump to support the bill I introduced to cut drug prices in half. https://t.co/s0neuAyjkX

Trump defends ‘400-600 percent’ prescription drug price remarks
The sharp response came after Trump attempted to celebrate his administration’s efforts to lower prescription costs during recent comments about drug pricing reforms.
“We’re getting drug prices down by 400, 500 percent,” Trump said.
Trump: "We're getting drug prices down by 400, 500 percent. Or depending on the way you want to phrase the question, you could say 600 percent, and you could also say 80 percent, 70 percent, etc. It all depends on the way you phrase the question. I like the 500 better." pic.twitter.com/EMTpeM4wie

Trump promotes ‘most favored nation’ drug pricing plan
Trump’s comments came as the White House continued promoting its “most favored nation” prescription pricing model aimed at lowering medication costs in the United States.
On Thursday, April 23, Trump celebrated what he described as a major victory after Regeneron became the latest pharmaceutical company to join the administration’s pricing initiative.
According to the White House, Regeneron became the 17th leading manufacturer to participate in the program, which seeks to tie American drug prices more closely to lower prices offered in other wealthy countries.

Trump argued the agreements would move the United States closer to achieving “the lowest prices in the world” for prescription medications.
The administration also claimed the deals now cover companies representing roughly 86 percent of the branded prescription drug market.
Trump has repeatedly promoted the initiative as one of his administration’s biggest healthcare achievements, often framing it as a direct challenge to pharmaceutical companies and high medication costs faced by Americans.
