WASHINGTON, DC: Amid rising criticism over President Donald Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, former New York Lt Governor Betsy McCaughey came to his defense on November 15.

She recalled her double dates with Trump and Wilbur Ross in the 1990s, saying she never witnessed any inappropriate behavior toward young women during those encounters.

During CNN’s 'NewsNight', Betsy McCaughey defended Donald Trump amid his order for a federal probe into the full release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, using her own personal experiences to shield him from scrutiny.

The 52-second video shared online begins with anchor Abby Phillip stating, “The following frames and their corresponding subtitles have been sampled from the video.”

A CNN legal commentator then adds, “The files, we cannot release this to the public or anybody else. And Donald Trump just got his trump card from doing this. Brilliant and scary.”

After the commentary, McCaughey responded, “I'm for transparency. I think all the files should be released. But let me be clear.”

She continued, “I know from personal experience that Donald Trump has never had a taste for inappropriately young girls in the 1990s, when I was lieutenant governor, Donald Trump and I double dated.”

She explained, “I was dating my future husband, Wilbur Ross. He was dating his future wife, Marla Maples.”

McCaughey then recalled, “We called her peaches. We would go to the fights in Atlantic City. We would go out to nightclubs. Plenty of hot spots.”

She concluded, “And I never saw Donald Trump behave inappropriately with anyone young.”

McCaughey ended by reiterating, “So I think that all of those records should be just released. Everybody wants."

In a Truth Social post on Friday, November 14, President Trump said he plans to ask Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice to work with the FBI on what he called the “Epstein Hoax.”

He wrote that Democrats are using the issue to distract from what he described as their “disastrous shutdown” and other failures.

"Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures."

Trump stated, "I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase."

He said the goal is to "to determine what was going on with them, and him."

Trump ended the post by calling the situation “another Russia, Russia, Russia scam” and claimed the evidence points to Democrats.

He added, "Records show that these men, and many others, spent large portions of their life with Epstein, and on his “Island.” Stay tuned!!!"

Pam Bondi responded a few hours later, thanking Trump for his trust.

Sharing a screenshot of his post on X, she wrote, "Thank you, Mr. President. SDNY U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton is one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country, and I’ve asked him to take the lead."

She said, "As with all matters, the Department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people."
