RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA: During a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, President Joe Biden spoke to a crowd of supporters on Friday, June 28. He concluded his address by mentioning his widely criticized debate performance from the previous night against Donald Trump.

He underscored his commitment to honesty and moral discernment.

Despite doubts about his age and mental sharpness, Biden stayed dedicated to his campaign, vowing to clinch a win in North Carolina come November, thereby securing his electoral triumph.

Joe Biden acknowledges his age and mental acuity during debate performance

“Let me close with this. I know I’m not a young man. State the obvious,” Biden spoke, and the crowd responded with cheers of support, MediaITE reports.

“Well, I know,” Biden said, adding, "I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to, but I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth."

"I know, I know. I know right from wrong. Well, I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. I know, like millions of Americans know. When you get knocked down, you get back up," he added.

Biden's debate performance heightened concerns regarding his age and mental acuity, leading to widespread calls from the left for his withdrawal.

However, Biden, during his speech, firmly stated his intention to continue and pledged to secure a victory in North Carolina in November, asserting that winning the state would ensure his election victory.

Will Joe Biden withdraw from 2024 presidential race?

President Joe Biden has no intention of withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race. Reports indicate that Biden, at 81, intends to pursue reelection and is dedicated to participating in another debate with the presumed GOP nominee Donald Trump in September.

"NEW, as just reported on @CNN: Not only does @POTUS not plan to drop out, Biden remains committed to a second debate in September, an adviser tells me," CNN's Senior White House correspondent Kayla Tausche made a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday, June 28.

The update arrived the morning following the initial presidential debate of the 2024 election, during which Biden's voice was muffled, and he had difficulty matching his opponent's rapid speech.

The debate between Biden and Trump on Thursday, June 27, raised alarms within the Democratic Party, leading some political commentators and strategists to wonder if it's possible to change their nominee before the Democratic National Convention in August.

President Biden seemed somewhat disoriented at times, and a source told PEOPLE that he was suffering from a cold, which explained his hoarse voice.

At certain points, his speech was difficult to follow, and his sentences tended to be long-winded, missing the mark on the points he intended to convey. In confrontations with Trump, he often lacked clarity, which heightened concerns regarding his age.

Donald Trump has made false statements about Jan 6 Capitol riots

Meanwhile, Donald Trump made numerous false statements regarding the contentious issues discussed and shifted blame away from himself for the Jan 6, 2021, Capitol riots, before which he had urged his supporters to 'fight like hell' to reclaim the country, according to PEOPLE.

“On Jan 6, we were respected all over the world. All over the world, we were respected. And then [Biden] comes in, and we got laughed at," Trump claimed.

When asked to step in and put an end to the attacks, Biden retorted that Trump had “encouraged those folks to go to Capitol Hill” and had "sat there for three hours watching."

Trump has suggested he may not accept the results of the 2024 election unless they meet his criteria for fairness and legality. He also reiterated his unsubstantiated claim that the 2020 election, which he lost to Biden, was unfair.

The next presidential debate is set for September 10 and will be broadcast on ABC, moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis.
