'Joe must go': Biden shredded after Kevin McCarthy insists President won't step aside because 'you can't negotiate with him'

WASHINGTON, DC: Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) has declared that President Joe Biden will not step aside to allow the Democratic Party to choose a new nominee.

McCarthy believes Biden’s unwillingness to negotiate is a significant factor in this decision.

Joe Biden’s debate performance on Thursday, June 27, raised concerns among liberals. His shaky presentation left pundits speculating about whether Biden would step down to let someone else challenge former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. Despite these concerns, Biden’s campaign and the White House have firmly stated that he is not going anywhere.

McCarthy appeared on Fox Business to discuss the challenges of replacing Biden within the Democratic Party.

“They created this problem, and the only way Joe Biden can come off the ballot is if he decides it,” McCarthy said. He further stated, “Joe Biden is going to be the nominee. Joe Biden is not going to give it up. Why? Because Jill does not want to give it up either.”

Reflecting on his time as Speaker, McCarthy noted his experiences negotiating with Biden on various issues. “I learned when I was negotiating with him, you can’t negotiate with him. He just talks about cars. You have to negotiate with staff,” McCarthy said.

Biden’s debate performance alarmed Democratic strategists and voters. While debating Trump, Biden stumbled over his words, lost his train of thought, and moved slowly. Analysts on CNN’s panel immediately discussed the possibility of Democrats needing to consider replacing Biden.

Van Jones, a former Obama White House advisor, said, “I think there’s a lot of people who are going to want to see [Biden] consider taking a different course now. We’re still far from our convention, and there is time for this party to figure out a different way forward if he will allow us to do that.”

Some Republicans have suggested using the 25th Amendment to remove Biden from office. The New York Times editorial board has called on Biden to step down, stating it would be “the best chance to protect the soul of the nation.”

McCarthy remarked that the optimal time for Biden to step aside would have been a year ago. “His problem is age. It’s not even what he said. It’s just the look of [what] he did, his actions, which everybody knows, he’s not the same person he used to be,” he said, as quoted by The Hill.

Kevin McCarthy’s statements led to a flood of reactions slamming Joe Biden on social media.

"Joe must go," one posted on X.

"Because Jill Biden won’t let him. Can we say 25th Amendment now, after all, they were threatening Trump with that when he was in office? But if that happens, Kamala Harris will be president," another wrote.

"His, and Jill’s, hatred towards Trump will not allow him to step aside. The Dems have a problem. He has to quit before his delegates can vote for someone else. It’s going to take promised pardons & a lot of $$$ for Jill to go along w/it. I think Joe will do what Jill says," someone else offered.

"I'm afraid that Biden is going to end up doing what RBG did, refusing to step down will cost them plenty when the GOP gains the up hand," another chimed in.

 

 

 

Polls reflect growing concerns

Polls conducted after the debate reveal growing concerns about Biden’s fitness for office.

An Ipsos poll of over 2,500 likely voters showed that only one in five respondents rated Biden’s mental fitness as “good” or “excellent,” a seven-point drop from a poll conducted just days before the debate. Among likely Democratic voters, the drop was even more significant, with only 42% believing Biden is mentally fit after the debate compared to 56% beforehand.

The poll also indicated a decline in perceptions of Biden’s physical fitness. Fifteen percent of respondents believed Biden is physically fit to be president, down from 21% before the debate.

A Morning Consult poll conducted one day after the debate found that 60% of respondents, including 47% of Democratic voters, felt Biden should “probably” or “definitely” be replaced with another Democratic candidate in the November election.
