The lawsuit threat has sparked a storm of reactions, both on late-night television and across social media.

The Trumps have denied the claim, saying the couple first met in 1998 during a New York Fashion Week party hosted by businessman Paolo Zampolli.

“Melania says she’s going to sue Hunter Biden,” Bill Maher said during his HBO show, drawing laughter from the audience.

“That’s not the joke part. I really like this where she says she’s going to sue him for a billion dollars," Maher added.

Continuing with his punchline, Maher added, “If Hunter loses, it’s going to be weird for him writing a woman a check because she’s not a p********e.”

The remark was met with chuckles and applause from the studio crowd.
