LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent interview, comedian and 'Real Time with Bill Maher' host, Bill Maher said he was "bored" of hearing the constant predictions that Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, would rule like a dictator.

“When people come up to me and say, ‘What are we going to do?’ I’m like, ‘It doesn’t look to me like the world is just falling apart. Maybe it will tomorrow,’” he told the New York Times in an interview.

“Look, I lost my nervous system under Trump once. I’m not doing it again. When he blows up the world, wake me. I can’t put my nervous system on the line every day for every stupid tweet and every bonehead thing he does,” Maher went on to say.

Democrats and media critics warn against a second Trump term

Democrats and some media figures have consistently cautioned against a second Trump term, claiming that if elected, the former president will turn into a despot.

Maher, who is critical of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden, admitted to having a “soft spot for this crazy, mixed-up country of ours,” to Dowd, as reported by New York Post.

Maher also mentioned to Dowd that Americans need to cease behaving as if the nation is on the brink of a civil war, stating, “We have to see each other not as mortal enemies,” but “merely as roommates from hell.”

After Biden and Trump agreed on two debate dates, Maher commented that the President agreed to the debates because he is "losing".

“To me it says Biden knows he’s losing because otherwise he wouldn’t have agreed,” Maher said on Friday, May 17. “Only the loser wants to debate.”

Bill Maher acknowledges feeling he's 'beating his head against the wall'

Maher was intrigued by the prospect of a summer debate scheduled for June 27, noting that “they haven’t had the convention yet".

The comedian contended that Biden had more to demonstrate in the forthcoming debates.

“Trump is a known commodity. They know he’s gonna be an a*****e. He’s gonna be lurking and growling and not obeying the rules and everything else. But Biden, they want to see proof of life,” he said.

In the interview, Dowd asked Maher if he ever felt like he was "beating his head against the wall" while raising pertinent issues.

Maher acknowledged that he did feel that way at times, but emphasized the importance of continuing to "sail onward".

“I don’t want to hate half the country,” he told Dowd. “I don’t hate half the country. And I don’t want America to get a divorce.”

Internet reacts to Bill Maher's remarks on Trump

As soon as Maher's claims went viral on the Internet, users started sharing their opinions.

One wrote about Trump, "Dictatorship is their only goal."

Another user added, "The faux outrage is boring at this point. Meanwhile, Biden has had 11 embassies evacuated so far, he’s funding both sides of a war. He told Putin he could have a minor incursion into Ukraine, and Biden calls Trump dictator."

A Trump supporter said, "He didn't do it in his first term. He won't do it."

One commentator remarked, "People calling him (Trump) a dictator is like the right calling dems communist. It’s dumb."
