NEW YORK: Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman has confirmed that he will support Donald Trump in the upcoming White House race against President Joe Biden.

Schwarzman, a major political donor on Wall Street, was contemplating supporting Trump amid the growing antisemitism in the nation, particularly on college campuses.

Stephen Schwarzman plans to vote for change and support Trump

On May 24, Schwarzman stated that his endorsement of Trump was influenced by concerns over the current economic, immigration, and foreign policies, as well as the “the dramatic rise of antisemitism” across the country.

"The dramatic rise of antisemitism has led me to focus on the consequences of upcoming elections with greater urgency," he says in a statement to Axios.

"I share the concern of most Americans that our economic, immigration and foreign policies are taking the country in the wrong direction. For these reasons, I am planning to vote for change and support Donald Trump for President," he went on to say.

Schwarzman further added, "In addition, I will be supporting Republican Senate candidates and other Republicans up and down the ticket." Long considered an ally of Trump, Schwarzman stated in 2022 that he would not support the former president, advocating for the Republican Party to embrace a new generation of leadership.

He refrained from endorsing any candidates during the primaries. Blackstone has not provided an immediate response to a request for comment. "America does better when its leaders are rooted in today and tomorrow, not today and yesterday," Schwarzman said in November 2022. "It is time for the Republican Party to turn to a new generation of leaders and I intend to support one of them in the presidential primaries," he added.

Internet trolls Stephen Schwarzman for supporting Donald Trump

As soon as the news went viral on the internet, users started criticizing Schwarzman. One wrote, "So back the guy that had dinner with a holocaust denier. He’s full of shit."

Another user added, "Another coward who is getting on the train."

The third commentator went on to say, "I’m “NOT” a fan of Blackstone. They have funded some crap."

One person remarked, "BS. He wants more trump tax scams and he hates to see working people succeed."

On the other hand some users showcased their excitement about Schwarzman's support for Trump.

A user wrote, "It's interesting to see business leaders engaging so actively in political discussions. It highlights the importance of addressing economic issues and combatting antisemitism in our society. What are your thoughts on the impact this might have on future economic policies?"

Other Trump supporter mentioned, "Well, Blackstone is one of the top corporations backing Trump, which means Biden might be losing support from his big donors. Looks like it's time for Biden to start a GoFundMe!"
