Blake Lively asks fans to 'be kind' in tribute to Hayden Panettiere and Michelle Trachtenberg
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blake Lively paid tribute to 'Ice Princess' co-stars Hayden Panettiere and Michelle Trachtenberg following their deaths. On Monday, August 17, Lively shared a compilation of clips from the 2005 Disney movie on her Instagram Stories while remembering the two actresses.
Alongside the video, Lively urged people to show compassion toward others. “Be. Kind. You never know what others are going through,” she wrote before thanking both actresses for the happiness they had brought to audiences.

Lively's tribute featured scenes from 'Ice Princess', which starred Trachtenberg as Casey Carlyle and Panettiere as Gen Harwood. The two actresses played characters connected through figure skating, with Gen initially serving as Casey's rival before the characters became friends.
“Thank you to both these women for all the joy you brought so many,” Lively wrote beneath the video. Her message came after Panettiere's death on August 16, 2026, and Trachtenberg's death in February 2025.
The 2005 film also starred Joan Cusack and Kim Cattrall. Cusack played Casey's mother, while Cattrall portrayed Gen's mother, Tina, a former skater who eventually became an ally to Casey.
Panettiere's family confirmed her death on Sunday, just days before her 37th birthday. Her father, Alan "Skip" Panettiere, shared a statement through her representative, describing his daughter as “an incredible light and a force of nature” who brought love and joy to those around her and to the millions who watched her onscreen.
Michelle Trachtenberg died at 39 from complications of diabetes
PEOPLE reported that Panettiere was believed to have died following an apparent overdose and cardiac arrest. However, an official cause of death had not been released at the time of the report. The Greenville Police Department also said there were no “signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.”
Panettiere was known for roles in projects including 'Heroes' and 'Nashville' and was also a mother to her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko.
Trachtenberg, who also starred alongside Lively in 'Gossip Girl', died in New York City on February 26, 2025, at age 39. According to the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, her death resulted from complications of diabetes mellitus, and her manner of death was ruled natural.
