BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS: Michelle Wu is facing the internet's wrath after reportedly pushing for some offenses not to be prosecuted at all.

As reported by Daily Mail, the Boston Mayor has advocated for not prosecuting people charged with shoplifting and disorderly conduct.

Michelle Wu does not think breaking and entering is a serious crime

She also reportedly argued that minors in possession of alcohol and drug possession including possession with intent to distribute, non-marijuana drug possession, driving with a suspended license, breaking and entering of property, and wanton and malicious destruction of property should not be taken legally seriously.

It has been said that Wu agrees with a “do-not-prosecute” list that was made by Suffolk County’s ex-District Attorney Rachael Rollins.

Michelle Wu supports ‘shuttering the Boston Police gang database’

Before joining the mayor's office in November 2021, the 39-year-old politician submitted the "2021 Boston Mayoral Candidate Questionnaire" from Progressive Massachusetts.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are visiting the coastal city of Boston to attend the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, an event which celebrates those whose work is helping to repair the planet. During their trip, which will last for three days, the royal couple will learn about the environmental challenges Boston faces as well as meeting those who are combating the effects of climate change in the area. Below the question, “Do you support the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office's do-not-prosecute list and expanded approach to dealing with such low-level offenses? YES/ NO?,” she replied: “Yes.”

She was also questioned if she “supports shuttering the Boston Police gang database?”

Her answer was “yes.”

Another question for Wu was “Do you believe that affiliation or sympathies with white supremacist organizations among officers is a problem with BPD? YES/ NO If so, what measures would you take as mayor to combat that issue?”

Her response read, “Yes. I have advocated for terminating any [Boston Police Department] employees who were involved with the January 6th Capitol insurrection,” as reported by Fox News.

She added, “[W]e must ensure that contract language enables the sharing of data with the public on officers’ use-of-force and misconduct and allows disciplinary records to be made publicly accessible, in accordance with privacy laws.”

Netizens demand Michelle Wu’s removal

Meanwhile, Wu’s leniency has angered many with a reader writing below the Fox News article, "Without the recognition and protection of basic property rights, there is no society. The mayor needs to be voted out by Bostonians. If not, businesses will leave, property taxes will increase even further, residents will then leave, neighborhoods will decline, and Boston will become Portland. Is that what Bostonians really want.”

Another commented, “If these types of policies are expanded, there will be no reason to work if you can steal your way through life without consequences. Eventually, there will be no businesses in Boston or honest citizens left because all will flee.”

“Wow. So, she does not care about law and order, nor about the well-being and safety of non-criminal citizens.  ‘...larceny, disorderly conduct, receiving stolen property, driving with a suspended license, breaking and entering with property damage, wanton and malicious destruction of property, threats, minor in possession of alcohol, marijuana possession, possession with intent to distribute, non-marijuana drug possession.’ Decline prosecution on these?  So, she expects citizens to just put up with it?  Obviously, she does,” a third mentioned.

Yet another reader stated, “That’s right, zero care. Let all those crimes she wants to not prosecute happen to her personally daily, see what happens.”

Someone else added, “If she can't follow the law, she needs removed from office for dereliction of duties.”
