Trump says GOP will ‘do very well’ in midterms, warns Democratic win would be ‘very dangerous’
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Sunday, August 30, said that he expects Republicans to “do very well” in the 2026 midterm elections, citing what he described as the Democratic Party’s shift toward communism.
In an interview with the Fox News, Trump also said that he plans to campaign for Republican candidates in the upcoming elections and urged voters to pretend as if he were on the ballot. He also warned that a Democratic victory would bring major changes on taxes, immigration and transgender policies.
Trump says Democrats have been ‘infiltrated’ by communism
Trump argued that Republicans have an advantage because he believes the Democratic Party has moved further to the left.

Trump specifically referenced to Democratic Nominee Abdul El Sayed, who is running for the Senate in Michigan, describing his campaign as “very dangerous for our country.”
“I look at the people running, like in Michigan. I watched this interview the other day, and I said, Wow, this man is out of it. This is very dangerous for our country. I'm not saying good guy, bad guy. I'm just saying this is big, big trouble for our country. Likewise, many others,” Trump said.
Trump also claimed that the Democratic base is increasingly being pushed to support positions they do not personally agree with.
“And what's happened is you're seeing Democrats, of which there are fewer and fewer, are forced to vote in a way that they would not vote, and they don't even believe in their vote. But if they don't vote that way, they lose power. With all of that being said, I think we're going to do well,” Trump said.
Trump plans to campaign for Republican candidates
Trump said he intends to campaign personally for Republican candidates, drawing on the same approach he used during his presidential campaign, during which he said he spent 120 days campaigning without taking a day off.
“I'm going to go out and I'm going to campaign like I did for myself,” Trump said.
Trump also said he would encourage voters to view him as effectively being on the ballot, arguing that some voters are more motivated by him personally than by the Republican Party.

“And I'm going to hope the people think that I'm on (the ballot), and we're going to win easily, because some people like me more than they like the party. I mean you can't be insulted by it. There's nothing you can do about it,” Trump said.
Trump warned that failing to elect Republicans would have consequences for the country, saying a Democratic victory would lead to changes in several policy areas.

“We're going to go through a lot of things. You're going to have the taxes raised. You're going to have the crazy things happening, like the men in women's sports will never end. None of this stuff, transgender will never end, open borders. They'll open the borders immediately. I mean, they'll open the borders,” Trump said.
