ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Georgia Gov Brian Kemp compared Donald Trump to a "tropical storm threat" during his Friday, August 9 interview with conservative radio host Erick Erickson, as per MTN.

The Republican governor's remarks came as he was asked about the former president attacking him during his Atlanta campaign rally. At the Georgia State University event, the GOP presidential nominee called Brian a "bad guy," a "disloyal guy," and a "very average governor."

Trump also went on a tirade against the governor and his wife, Marty Kemp, on his social media platform, Truth Social.

During his interview with Erick Erickson, Brian Kemp stated, "I was kidding with a small audience the other day and I said, 'You know we have this big storm come through the state this week (referring to Trump's campaign rally on August 3) and then now we're dealing with Tropical Storm Debby. So we, you know, it's our second storm we dealt with, but, you know what, we weathered both of them."

"I would just, you know, look, a lot of noise out there as you could imagine, a lot of distractions which, in my opinion, is not what we need to be doing right now in the presidential campaign," added the governor of the Trump campaign.

At another point in the interview, Brian subtly threw shade at the former president, saying, "I've said a long time before the presidential primary ever started, when we had all those great candidates that were running, that I was going to support the nominee."

Heated social media exchange between Donald Trump and Brian Kemp

At the beginning of August, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to write, "Brad Raffensperger has to do his job, and make sure this Election is not stolen. Brian Kemp should focus his efforts on fighting Crime, not fighting Unity and the Republican Party! His Crime Rate in Georgia is terrible, his Crime Rate in Atlanta is the worst, and his Economy is average."

He added, "He should be seeking UNITY, not Retribution, especially against the man that got him the Nomination through Endorsement and, without whom, he could never have beaten Stacey Abrams."

"He and his wife didn’t think he could win. I said, 'I'm telling you you’re going to win.' Then he won, he was happy, and his wife said, 'Thank you Sir, we’ll never be able to make it up to you!' Now she says she won't Endorse me, and is going to 'write in Brian Kemp’s name.' Well, I don't want her Endorsement, and I don't want his," further remarked the GOP presidential nominee.

He concluded, "They're the ones who got Fani Willis and her boyfriend all 'jazzed up' and ready to go. He could have ended that travesty with a phone call, but he doesn’t want to end it because he's a bad guy."

The Georgia governor replied to the former president on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "My focus is on winning this November and saving our country from Kamala Harris and the Democrats - not engaging in petty personal insults, attacking fellow Republicans, or dwelling on the past. You should do the same, Mr. President, and leave my family out of it.

Internet calls out the double standards of Georgia Gov Brian Kemp

Netizens reacting to the news accused Brian Kemp of double standards, as he has not endorsed any other candidate for president, and is expected to vote for Donald Trump in November.

One wrote, "He gets no love. He's STILL stumping for Trump," and another said, "But Kemp will still hold his nose and vote for the convict."

"Typical Republican understatement," stated a person, with someone else saying, "You're so close governor, just take the last step."

"Still voting for him though. Actions speak louder than words," noted an individual.
