THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears made a puzzling return to Instagram on Sunday, October 19, with a post that left fans alarmed after she claimed she had brain damage. The post came shortly after revelations from ex-husband Kevin Federline's upcoming memoir, which alleges that the singer once punched their son Preston when he was a child.

Britney Spears’ cryptic post about her past trauma

Spears shared a photo of herself on horseback, alongside a caption referencing the Disney film 'Maleficent' (2014), in which she claimed to have suffered “brain damage.”

“My back… my blades… my wings… remember the movie 'Maleficent'—such an incredible movie!” Spears wrote.

“Remember the king tried to kill her, but instead, a guy secretly took her wings. But anything from the father in heaven, the real father—whom I only claim—who loves unconditionally, nothing is EVER FORGOTTEN,” she continued.

“Her wings were holy, so the king couldn’t take them. Not one person could say they were restored and hidden, locked in a secret holy stained-glass church… Not that this has any relevance to me, but I do find it incredibly interesting,” she added.

She went on to describe a traumatic experience she had written about in her memoir 'The Woman In Me.'

Spears’ mention of brain damage may reference a 2019 incident when she was reportedly placed in a mental health facility against her will. In 2022, she claimed that the experience left her with permanent nerve damage.

“I’m dancing in time now, Victoria… yes… nerve damage on the right side of my body… there’s no cure except God, I guess,” she said in an earlier Instagram video.

She added, “Nerve damage is caused sometimes when you don’t get enough oxygen to your brain. Your brain literally shuts down. Blah blah blah, old story. In that place, I didn’t breathe when I was there. Nerve damage causes parts of your body to go numb."

Federline’s memoir, titled 'You Thought You Knew', is set for release on Tuesday, October 21. In it, he makes several disturbing allegations involving their sons, Preston and Jayden. He claims the boys sometimes woke up at night to find their mother standing in the doorway clutching a knife.

He also alleged that Spears bleached their sons’ hair down to the scalp, causing burns; made Preston bathe with her when he was ten or eleven; knowingly gave Jayden shellfish despite his allergy; and, at one point, wished both children dead.
