Britney Spears says she 'failed as a mother' in unexpected post about sons
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears shared a lengthy post on social media about her "failure" as a mother on Friday, August 7. The pop star included an old picture of her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and called them "a body of water."
The 44-year-old also revealed a recent conversation with one of her sons: "It was all science; he didn't personally believe in God."
Spears also said she lost the ability to be herself because she was "brainwashed into an ignorant system" where every person took advantage of her. "I firmly believe I am an angel, and it hurts. Time is in a different realm when you're an angel," the 'Toxic' singer wrote.

Spears' personal journey has always been a troubled past, and she has been in the news following her legal trouble and ongoing public attention surrounding her life, especially her recent DUI case.
The singer wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Those two little bodies came out of my belly... Yes, they are mine. Unfortunately, it wasn't until 5 years ago that I saw they were secretly taken to the beach by my mom and dad... The whole summer."
"In that moment I believed I had failed as a mother because I know there is a Holy Spirit that sits high in the kingdom of heaven. I've been there; I've felt it," she shared. "I wanna tell my kids and people in general that I'm sorry for my mistakes in the past."
Britney Spears talks about leaving the entertainment industry
Spears also said she doesn't want to be a part of the entertainment industry any longer. “I don’t want to be in the business and frankly the thought of the business … It’s not like it was when I was younger,” the 'Baby One More Time' singer wrote.
“My intention and mindset were in a completely different place when I used to perform… Not one time in those 15 years was it ever me and the way I used to think … I was shamed, embarrassed and forced to do all of it," she added.
She concluded the note writing, "We all prefer what we like and I'm not here to judge. I'm simply here to give perspective openly because I feel I've been misunderstood in my life ... I want to get closer to God and get my heart in its most beautiful, spiritual way."
Just a couple of days earlier, Spears had shared a post about having a baby.
