BROOKLYN, NEW YORK: Viral videos have shown Bruce Springsteen snubbing his superfan, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, during a concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
The incident happened during the singer’s ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ tour at Barclays Center on Thursday, May 14, night when he was greeting his fans in the arena. However, he completely ignored Christie’s outstretched arm and went ahead without even acknowledging his presence.
Chris Christie continues to enjoy despite Bruce Springsteen's apparent snub
But the viral videos have also shown that the Republican party member did not let the apparent moment upset him as he returned to clapping as the show went on.
The 76-year-old musician is a staunch critic of President Donald Trump as well as his Republican policies. A few months back, he called out the Trump administration as “corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless, and treasonous”. The POTUS hit back at him by calling him “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker”.
Though Christie has now started opposing Trump after the 2020 presidential election, he had supported him in 2016. But it seems, despite the 63-year-old’s change in political views, the ‘Born to Run’ hitmaker still does not vibe with him.
Chris Christie calls Bruce Springsteen his 'friend'
Christie, however, has always shown his admiration for Springsteen. Years ago, in 2012, he had even said during an interview that “just because we disagree doesn’t mean I don’t get him.”
Also in March this year, Christie revealed on the podcast ‘The Fifth Column’ that he and Springsteen were on really good terms.
“He goes, ‘You know, I just want you to know, I really respect you,’” the lawyer recalled as he added, “And he said, ‘I want us to be friends, let's just put the politics stuff aside and let's just be friends.’”
Netizens make fun of Chris Christie for being a 'man without a party'
Meanwhile, the recent apparent snub by Springsteen has led to many reactions, mostly making fun of Christie.
“HAHAHA Bruce Springsteen WAS NOT HAVING IT with Chris Christie. THE SNUB!” an X user commented.

A person sarcastically said, “Bruce never saw him. I do hope that Chris realizes that. Otherwise, I'm sure he's still inconsolable, even at this moment. Lol.”

“What? Chris Christie thought that because he became a Trump basher that Bruce Springsteen and the Democrats would except him? What a pathetic embarrassing sellout. Now no party likes this embarrassing whale,” someone wrote on X.
