WASHINGTON, D.C.: Chris Christie, who had advised President Donald Trump in the past, has revealed that the 2020 election fraud claim was “fiction” and even the POTUS didn’t “believe it.”
The former New Jersey Governor made the shocking claim during an event for the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School on Monday, April 6.
Chris Christie says 2020 rigged election claim was 'fiction'
He reportedly said, “The crap that Donald Trump put out there about the 2020 election is fiction. It’s make-believe.”
“And by the way, I was there in 2020. He doesn’t even believe it. He didn’t believe it. He thought he lost. And he was afraid he was gonna lose all during that fall,” Christie added.
Chris Christie claims US always have had 'fair and equal' elections
During the event, the 63-year-old politician also stated that the US has “never not had fair and equal elections, so we will have them again,” after being asked if the country would have “fair and equal” elections in November as well as in 2028.
Christie, who’s now a staunch critic of Trump, continued to thrash the president during the event. He even described the GOP for having “no principles”.
“Even for people who agree with some of the stuff the president is doing, if you’re really honest with yourself, you know it’s not based on principle. He wakes up every morning and tries to figure out what is the best thing for him to do in his self-interest that day, and that day only,” Christie asserted.
Chris Christie says Trump did not want Ivanka to marry Jared Kushner
During the same event, the lawyer shared that Trump did not want his daughter, Ivanka, to marry Jared Kushner, her now-husband. He even allegedly asked for some negative evidence against his son-in-law’s family. But the two eventually tied the knot in 2009.
“It became clear to Donald Trump that they were going to get married. He was not thrilled, let’s say, about this, and I was still the prosecutor at the time…” Christie said, continuing, “And he asked me to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Do you have anything more on the family, so I can break this up?’”
“I thought to myself: ‘Haven’t I given you enough?’” Christie added.
Jared’s father, Charles Kushner, reportedly negotiated a plea deal with Christie in 2004 after pleading guilty to witness tampering, illegal campaign contributions, and tax evasion. He was even sentenced for two years and was locked up in a federal prison camp in Montgomery, Alabama.
