WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Byron Donalds faced intense questioning from CNN's Abby Phillip on Thursday, May 23, on a fabricated Republican claim regarding the FBI's search of secret materials at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in 2022, according to HuffPost.

Phillip questioned Donalds on several occasions about why conservative figures, such as him and Trump, had asserted that a passage from the boilerplate search warrant that allowed for the use of lethal force during the raid was proof of a supposed "assassination attempt" that had received approval from President Joe Biden.

Phillip questioned Donalds, who had showed support for Trump by attending his hush money trial in New York last week, "That’s just not true. Why would you say something like that?"

Notably, the topic was avoided by Donalds, who is regarded as a possible running mate for presumed GOP nominee Trump. Phillip added, "Congressman, with all due respect, the language for the search is standard operating procedure for every operation of that kind that the FBI does. They did the same thing when they searched Joe Biden’s house. So how is that weaponizing it?"

The question was once again ignored by Donalds. Phillip replied, "Congressman, I’m talking about the conspiracy theory that the FBI was trying to assassinate Trump. Would you acknowledge that that is not true?"

For the third time, Donalds dodged the question from the news anchor. Phillip said, "Just, real simple question. Is it true or false that the FBI was trying to assassinate Trump?"

Donalds dodged the questioned for the fourth time. Phillips added, "Congressman, I just want to note that you are not responding to a very simple question about a conspiracy theory that you voiced."

In response to Donalds' continued denials, Phillip stated that it was "pretty extraordinary that when faced with really clear facts ― very clear facts, it’s pretty much black and white ― you won’t acknowledge" the truth of the situation.

She said, "I’m trying to understand why. Is it because the former president himself has raised this conspiracy that you feel like you have to support it?"

Internet slams Byron Donalds as he dodges questions on Trump's 'assassination' claim

People online trolled Byron Donalds as he dodged questions from CNN's Abby Phillip regarding the fabricated assassination claim.

A user posted on X, "He’s a LIAR" while one added, "Donalds is a lost soul."

A person also stated, "Donalds is NOT going to be trump’s VP pick! No matter how much he lies for him!" whereas one mentioned, "Something stinks on Byron Donalds."

A user also wrote, "This man is an embarrassment to himself and that’s as far as I will go. As Lynn Cheney said so eloquently, one day DT will be long gone off the scene… then he will have to look in the mirror."

Another stated, "Good job on pushing him. Need so much more of this."
