WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump shared a lighthearted yet candid moment with a young student at the White House, offering sports advice that quickly drew attention online.

During an interaction inside the Oval Office, a young girl told Trump that she plays volleyball and was considering trying soccer over the summer. Trump responded by asking about her physical abilities, particularly whether she could jump high, which is widely considered an important skill for volleyball players.

Trump suggests soccer after candid exchange

When the girl admitted she could not jump very high, Trump offered a straightforward and practical suggestion. “With your height, you can really smash that volleyball. Can you jump high?” he asked. After hearing her response, he added, “Soccer might be better. I think you’d be great at it. Good luck!”

The exchange, though brief, reflected Trump’s direct communication style, as he assessed the physical requirements of volleyball before offering advice. Instead of giving a generic or overly encouraging answer, he appeared to base his suggestion on the realities of the sport, where jumping ability can play a key role in performance.

At the same time, he ended the conversation on a supportive note, encouraging the young student to pursue a sport where she could thrive.

White House event highlights youth fitness initiative

The moment occurred during a White House event centered on youth fitness and athletics, where Trump announced the revival of the Presidential Physical Fitness Award. The program, first introduced in the 1950s, was designed to promote physical activity, discipline, and healthy competition among students across the United States.

As part of the event, children were invited to the White House to participate in activities and interact with officials. Trump emphasized the importance of athletics in building both physical strength and mental resilience, highlighting how sports can contribute to personal growth and long-term health.

Following the Oval Office interaction, participants were taken to the South Lawn, where they engaged in a variety of sports activities, including soccer, baseball, and other games aimed at encouraging movement and teamwork. The event blended policy with participation, giving students a chance to experience the importance of fitness firsthand.

Officials indicated that the revived program will likely include structured performance benchmarks, similar to its earlier format, while also encouraging broader participation among students.

The initiative is part of a wider push to promote healthier lifestyles, increase physical activity in schools, and reinforce the role of sports in overall development.
