NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Caroline Rose Giuliani, the daughter of the former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in a Vanity Fair article published on Monday, September 30.

With her father being a former lawyer and one of the closest allies of the GOP nominee and former president Donald Trump, Caroline shared that she was "unfortunately well-suited to remind Americans of just how calamitous being associated with Trump can be, even for those who are convinced he’s on their side."

Caroline Giuliani's reasons for backing Kamala Harris

Caroline Giuliani said that Kamala Harris is the safest choice for the country as Donald Trump would have "no checks on his power whatsoever" if reelected, following the US Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity.

Caroline said that she strongly believes that Harris would do right by Americans, especially women, which her ongoing fight for reproductive rights demonstrates.

She added that the Vice President would also take stronger steps to tackle grave issues such as climate change as she is the "only the second presidential candidate in history to be endorsed by Scientific American."

Caroline Giuliani witnessed her father's life crumble

Caroline Giuliani claimed that her father's life crumbled after his association with Donald Trump. She described the experience as "extraordinarily painful."

"Not to disregard individual accountability in the slightest, but it would be naive for us to ignore the fact that many of those closest to Trump have descended into catastrophic downward spirals," she pointed out. "If we let Trump back into the driver's seat this fall, our country will be no exception."

Rudy Giuliani became one of Trump's personal lawyers in 2018 after acting as an advisor during his 2016 presidential campaign. Since then, he has been one of his strongest allies.

He found himself entangled in legal battles after the 2020 election as he stood by Trump's baseless claims of election fraud. After speaking at the infamous January 6, 2021 rally, Rudy was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in Trump's alleged attempts to overturn the election. He has since been disbarred in New York and Washington DC.

Caroline Giuliani mourns for her father

Despite her concerns, Caroline Giuliani said she deeply cares for her father and that served as a motivation for her to write the piece.

"Nothing I have experienced prepared me for the very public and relentless implosion of my father's life," she shared, before adding, "After months of feeling the type of sorrow that comes from the death of a loved one, it dawned on me that I've been grieving the loss of my dad to Trump. I cannot bear to lose our country to him too."

Internet sympathetic with Caroline Giuliani

Netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) and backed Caroline Giuliani for her stance against Donald Trump.

"Good for her. That takes guts. Everything Trump touches dies and she had to watch that first hand," wrote an X user.

"The collapse from respected to reviled. Maga kills everything in its path," shared another.

"She's not alone. Many children of maga can relate," noted one person.

"It’s tough for Rudy’s daughter to have to speak out like this against her dad, takes real courage. And just maybe, real love," observed another.

"So sad for his daughter - he is such a disgrace," commented one individual.
