DOUGLAS, ARIZONA: Kamala Harris was panned on social media after she was spotted wearing a necklace estimated to be worth $62,000 during her first visit to the southern border since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee.

On Friday, September 27, the vice president apparently accessorized with a necklace that critics claim to be from Tiffany's while walking a razor-wire-protected fence with the US Border Patrol, according to the New York Post

Border security is seen as one of Harris' biggest vulnerabilities in her run for the White House due to the Biden administration’s record on illegal immigration.

How was Kamala Harris dressed for the border visit?

Kamala Harris was seen at the border wearing a brown jacket over a black top and dark-colored pants during her visit to Douglas, Arizona. Apart from the controversial necklace, the 59-year-old was also seen wearing dark sunglasses.

The necklace was a gold link-chain piece that looked similar to Tiffany & Co’s Bold Graduated Link Necklace in yellow gold.

However, the New York Post noted that it was unclear if the piece that Harris wore was indeed a Tiffany item, as neither the company nor Harris' campaign has issued any clarification on the matter.

While addressing a rally in Douglas, Harris shared her plans to fix the "broken immigration system." She also called out her political rival, former President Donald Trump, for "fanning the flames of fear and division" over the subject of immigration.

Trump and his supporters have frequently attempted to place blame on Harris for the increase in illegal border crossings during the Biden administration.

During a press conference on Thursday, the GOP nominee slammed Harris over her border visit and said, "She should go back to the White House and tell the president to close the border."

Internet slams Kamala Harris over her choice of jewelry

Netizens slammed Kamala Harris for wearing the apparently expensive piece of jewelry during her border visit, claiming that she was out of touch with middle-class Americans.

One wrote, "@KamalaHarris Maybe leave the $60,000.00 Tiffany’s necklace at home when visiting the border. Respectfully, you look ridiculous & thoroughly removed from what’s right in front of your face. The photo op wasn’t a total loss, though. They got a great shot of that necklace!"

Another said, "She’s ’middle class’ but sure does enjoy showing off her $62,000 Tiffany gold necklace!"

"Tacky to wear the necklace in public," quipped a person. "Up there talking about the price of groceries, our economy….while wearing a neckless that costs more than some people's entire year's salary," remarked an individual.

"OMG!!!!! This woman has NO Idea what it means to grow up in a middle-class household!!!" exclaimed an individual.

"She’s just like us…. 🤣," mocked yet another.
