WASHINGTON, DC: Political strategist James Carville slammed news networks for not airing Trump's prime-time speech, calling it "completely disjointed" and full of lies.

Carville blasted major television networks on Friday, July 17, for declining to carry President Donald Trump's election integrity speech in full, arguing Americans should have been allowed to watch what he described as the president's increasingly erratic behavior.

James Carville says Trump acted 'loonier than a tune'

“I think it’s newsworthy when you watch the president of the United States sit there and tell multiple lies in a speech that makes no sense, is completely disjointed, and I think people need to see that,” Carville told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo.

During Thursday evening's speech, Trump repeated his claims that the 2020 presidential election was "stolen" through widespread voter fraud and interference from China, without providing evidence to support those allegations.

"I would advise them to attack CNN, attack ABC, attack NBC… because they didn't air the speech," Carville told CNN's Wolf Blitzer when asked how Democrats should respond to Trump's primetime address. "I think the president of the United States acting loonier than a tune is newsworthy."

Democrat calls for Trump's impeachment over election speech

Sen Ed Markey (D-Mass) late Thursday called on Congress to impeach President Trump after the president’s election claim.

“Trump must be impeached for undermining and subverting our free and fair elections,” Markey declared on the social platform X.

“And when he sends ICE agents to the polls, then we must turn civic action into civil disobedience and take to the streets. Sit in. Protest. Withhold our labor. Everything must be on the table,” he urged.

Trump earlier Thursday evening said that newly released documents show that during a period of five years starting during the 2020 election cycle, the Chinese government acquired 220 million US voter files.

And Trump alleged that members of the “deep state” have worked to “suppress and downplay information about the extent of China’s sinister election meddling.”

However, critics have pointed out that information on US voters is publicly available or can be purchased from states.

Trump claimed that the Chinese government wanted him to lose the 2020 presidential election and said "raw intelligence" obtained by the FBI in 2020 showed Beijing had attempted to manufacture illegal ballots for former President Joe Biden, who defeated Trump that year.
