LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chad Lowe and Kim Painter’s 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has died. The grieving family issued a statement on Tuesday, September 29, sharing the devastating news.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” the statement read.
It continued, “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” it added.
Chad Lowe celebrated Fiona’s 13th birthday
Lowe and his wife, a casting director, welcomed Fiona in November 2012. The couple also share two daughters: their eldest, Mabel Painter, is 17, while their youngest, Nixie Barbara, is 10.
Last November, Fiona turned 13. At the time, the ‘Life Goes On’ actor celebrated her special day with an Instagram post.
Lowe shared a photo of his daughter, writing, “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!
Chad Lowe reflects on being a girl dad
Months before Fiona’s 13th birthday, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe revealed that his family had lost their home in the Pacific Palisades Fire in early 2025.
In a February 2025 Instagram post, Lowe shared a photo of his family at the site, with the caption, “Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home.”
“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege,” the 58-year-old added.
In 2024, Lowe had also opened up about being a girl dad.
The director reportedly said, “It takes what I’ve known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that’s there, and how it’s a misogynistic world in a lot of ways … and it’s put it in my heart, because I have three daughters. And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective.”
